SERIOUSLY NEXON
Why are we getting so much less determination than yesterday and yet have to do like 5x more work to get it. Do you really think we are going to spend like 8 hrs to collect it and not get anything else done. I really hope this is not how it is. Cause people are not happy. Also I have heard that you are supposed to be able to collect determination sitting at post. Which isn't working either, if that"s the case.

Actually, it is possible (if a bit counter-intuitive) to get Determination at about the same rate as we were with the Scattered Determination quest using the Save the Soldiers quest. That is to say, about 10k in 20(ish) minutes, thus taking approximately 100 minutes for the new maximum of 50k.

The way Save the Soldiers works is that it gives 100 Determination for every soldier you save with an additional 5 Determination for every enemy the Rescued Soldier lands a finishing blow on. It is not that difficult to get them to kill a minimum of 20 enemies in the time that they last, thus getting at least 200 Determination per soldier. Since the full 20 soldiers are generally finished with 8 minutes, you should be getting 4k per flare use. In other words, 1k per 2 minutes, thus 10k in 20 minutes.

I believe the reason most people are unaware of this is that the soldiers tend to take a few hits to kill higher level enemies, so they see no point in trying to escort them around to do the killing when they are much faster. From my experience, it seems that soldiers can one-shot enemies up to about level 100 (thus making anything below that the ideal level for gaining Determination). Anything above that can take two, three, or even four hits depending on the level of enemies that are in your range.

Additionally, for characters over level 200 and with their 5th job advance, there are three daily quests they can do which grant 10k Determination each and rarely take more than 30 minutes to complete. So that equates to 10k per 10 minutes for those characters.

There is also the Help From Above missions, but those are awful.

Oh, and for collecting Determination within the Outpost, there is a skill you can use via the Alliance Skills menu that appears in beginner skill list after you talk to Grendel in the Outpost. Using that skill will give the option of whether you wish to receive Determination (3 per 10 seconds at the base level which can be upgraded with more Alliance Ranks) or EXP (on a level 180, it was 0.02% per 10 seconds; not sure about other levels).

I think that is all I have to say on this matter. Hope some of this helped. Happy Mapling!

Edit: Turns out, the amount of hits it takes to for the soldiers to kill enemies is based on the given character's damage, not levels. When I was noting that the amount of hits required seemed to consistently increase among my higher levels, I forgot to take into account that they are consistently pathetic. It makes much more sense this way and I feel rather silly for not realizing sooner. Although, it should be noted that just because your character can one-shot an enemy does not mean a soldier they spawn can do so.
