I'm stuck with 1280x720 as the maximum. I can switch to 800x600 and 1024x768 but attempting to set it to 1366x768 changes to 1280x720 instead

Are you using fullscreen? It's possible your monitor does not support that reso and MapleStory can't apply it.
Does it work in the other mode? (Did you test both Full and windowed?)

The problem is in the resolution of your graphics card, you need to add that resolution, in my case it happened like that with the ATI, you must see in the properties of the card (AMD Vision Engine Control Center) the registration path in the "Software" part, then look in the windows registry for that route and double click on "DALNonStandardModesBCD1" (in my case) to modify, in step 3 you must add the resolution as I show you in the image, click on OK to save it and leave the Registry editor, you can restart the PC in case it does not appear yet and finally you verify in the option of monitor resolution in windows the resolution appears added, you open Maple and you can already configure the 1366x768 without problems, this is valid to add other resolutions, It already depends on what your monitor supports, for NVIDIA or INTEL it is something similar just to find the route of the resolutions in the registry to add and solve that problem, I hope this helps you, regards.
