Can't log on to Ark

Made an Ark for the pre-creation. Didn't play on the day of release but when I went to play it yesterday I watched the opening cutscene (some high flora talking about stuff) and then after a short pause where some embers started floating (for just a second) the game freezes and then just closes.

I have literally no idea what is causing this issue, I am not having it with any other characters. I have logged on to and off of plenty of my other characters before and after this. I have tried to log on to the Ark many (about 15) times now to no avail. I haven't tried making a new Ark as of yet, not just because I don't have the character slots but simply because I'm fairly certain that you lose the pre-registry bonuses if you make a new Ark.

Literally just tried it again now (21:50 BST)

Don't really care about the bonuses but it's a bit of a killjoy, I was kind of looking forward to playing it.
Anyway, that's that.

Technically, you are able to "log on" Ark, since you get past the PIC check and "see" an opening cutscene, you just can't do anything with him.
