What is the Point of Override Coins Anymore?

I have been seeing people say that the event ended on the 8th, and I can't access the coin shop anymore (when I try to use the shop it gives the message "This function cannot be used right now."). Does anyone know if they're going to reopen the coin shop at some point or is the event done-zo?

    The shop is supposed to stay open until August 29.
    Specifically today it is bugged in Scania, but it was working fine yesterday and should be fixed again soon.
