Captain Vaga - How to Use Pistol?

So I was going through the Captain Vaga game mode and saw that you can use a pistol, but how do you use it? It's never brought up in any tutorial.

    You have to have the special equipment window closed (I believe it is open/closed with C), and then you can press 1/2 to switch between main weapon and the pistol.

    Ah, thanks! I thought my maxed out pistol wouldn't see usage. I'll try that out once the game's finished updating.
