I am not able to choose a new name.

Hey, I'm Pride from the old forums. I've had my name changed about twice back then, from Keldeo to Eskalade to Pride. Perhaps this may be one of the reasons why I am unable to change my name here.

When I try to change it to a certain name, it states: "You can not update forum name at this time." When I try to use a different account that already exists, it gives the aforementioned message as well, and when I attempt to create a new account, it tells me that the name has already been taken.

I would definitely like to change my name from Pride, but since this prevents me from being able to do so, I am requesting help for this issue.

If you would like to attempt to manually change it, I will private message you the desired username. Thanks in advance.

You're getting the "can not update forum name at this time" message because the name you want is already taken.
You're going to have to think of something else to call yourself.

But, when he tries renaming himself to something that's already taken, it's a different message stating that the name you want is taken.
I assume this is just the result of switching forum names from the old one to the new one, in which case they should probably do something about the message because it confuses me.

also you can't name yourself 1 of your own classes you got on your account.( thus is why my name is Xerna instead of Kerqxon)
