Cannot progress in monad Act 1

I cannot progress any further in the blockbuster. Currently I am in the portion where you must lead the villagers across the river, and around 90% through the event, there's a prompt to go kill monsters. Based off a youtube video, after killing all the monsters in this part, there should be a cutscene afterwards, but when I kill all the monsters, nothing occurs(it is as if there are still monsters remaining on the map, when there are none).
