1st quest to get into the scrapyard.

is there a reason why i cant get past the 1st quest in the scrapyard? i pull the robot from the dirt and then kill the 3 new robot dudes, but it wont let me go no farther.........what am i if at all doing wrong?

    only way to get out of it is to dc then log back in.
