My idea is really simple and entails his exceed system:
1:Whenever he uses a skill the consumes HP he gets a shield equal on HP lost but he can't heal back to full HP with pots/familiars like the HP used is reserved as a shield, of course if his shield goes down pots/familiars can heal the amount lost as HP
2: Make overload release instead of healing, converts the remaining shield back into actual HP
Same restrictions apply with healing under his 5th job skill Demonic Frenzy
Edit: Since I got asked, this change allows Demon Avenger's playstyle to be the same while removing him dying to basically anything in boss fights if he wants to contribute any form of respectable damage outside burst.
