Pet cannot use auto buff skill

When I put my weave infusion skill onto one of my pets auto buff slots it gives me an error message. It doesn't matter which pet.
It says "Equipped item is incorrect. (Pet Name) could not use the Weave Infusion skill".
Don't know what to do.

    You must have your weapon and secondary equipped.
