Colored items

Hi folks!
Before developing this topic, if you know another topic already dealing with that subject plz indicate it to me. Otherwise, thanks for reading / answering, and I hope this will interest some of you.

So! I'm pretty new at MapleStory, only joined in september. So good news: new people keep on joining that pretty cool game ^^ Anyway.
I haven't met a lot of people yet, which is why I come here for my question. It is really simple but I really have 0 clue about the answer. There it is:
> How to get colored items?
That's it ^^
I already noticed that scrolling and enhancing was coloring items, but what really gets my attention are those items I see at the Auction house that are colored without being scrolled at all! Those items get saled very expensive, hundreds of millions when the extra stats are high.
> But where do those extra stats come from? > Did the items drop like that or is there a specific manipulation to provoke them?
This is more about curiosity to me than need, because being pretty new at the game I wouldn't spend hundreds of million for 30 stats or so anyway. But it could be of use if I could get some, and sell!
Well guys thanks again for reading, I've been talking so much because I get bored during this unscheduled maintenance (though they appear to happen a lot on thursday, don't they?). And now well leave an answer if you have any idea :)

Thanks guys bye! And good Mapleing!

Are they blue, purple, yellow or a weird green sort of color? That's potential. Items can drop with it or you can use scrolls that have a chance to give it to an item.

First of all, this maintenance isn't unscheduled. The notice on the website and everywhere says "scheduled". They almost always have the weekly maintenance on Thursday at this time of day.

As for your question, it's hard for me to tell whether you are talking about equipment potential (2-6 added lines of stats below the base stats) or "additional options" (modified base stats or stat lines inserted among the base stats). If you say which one you're talking about, we can tell you where they come from.

You have to spend real money $ on the cash shop to get colored items with good stats(by colored I'm assuming you mean their potential). Green= legendary, yellow= unique, purple= epic, blue=rare. Legendary being the best and rare being the worst. Alternatively, you can get SOME cash shop items from the reward store but unless you're super lucky, it could take you months to get 1 legendary item with reward points.

My advice: don't bother spending $ on these nice items. No matter how nice they are, they're not worth it IMO. But to each his/her own and if you feel like spending your money on this broken game then that is your choice :)

You can also earn meister and master cubes through drops from elite bosses as well as raid bosses, not to mention you can gain cash shop cubes through reward points that can be gained through killing bosses, the monster collection, as well as many events we've started having as of late. Also the way you get higher stats on the potential is by having them at a higher potential level.

Contrary to what our friend said right here, you don't HAVE to buy cubes.

You forgot the part where I mentioned he can get stuff from the reward store. And i didnt say he has to spend $ to buy cubes, I said he has to spend money to get "colored" items. Sure.... getting cubes isnt all that hard given the different ways you can get them.

    But

will you really sit there and tell this poor newbie(in a respectful way) that he can get a green items by getting cubes from elites and bosses?

Because if you and I play the same maplestory, this poor soul will spend months struggling to kill bosses with no drop rate and probably a low range just to get ONE item to "green". This game is pay2win

Hey guys! I'm sorry I wasn't able to respond right away to your reactions, I've been misunderstood. I'm glad I got your attention though :)
So I wasn't talking about the potentials but about the item's name colors, the kind this topic talks about:
    basilmarket.com/Equip-Name-Colors-Thread-bvBGq-1
What I understand from it is that the color evolves from grey to pink depending on how many stats have been added to the standard item.
What I don't understand is how it is possible that some items can have extra stats (and therefore color) without any scroll / stars on it, which I observed on some very expensive items at the Auction house. And the question I wonder is if those stats have been added from an other way than scroll/stars I wouldn't know, and that would be pretty expensive, or if the items have dropped with them.
    Round 2!

ps: forumsareannoying "poor newbie" "poor soul" lmao I'm doin fine thanks xD

So are your talking about the same colored items as I do? And in that case they would be available on the cash shop? I thought the stuff in cash shop was purely decorative, except for gachapon rewards or this kind of stuff..

because you can? I made a meister shoulder purely with cubes i got from elites that I didn't spawn, ones that i just walked to the maps for and sold it for 25b, he could easily do it as well.

@jumanji No, i dont think we were talking about the same thing. I was talking about item potentials and what you're referring to is item scrolling. There are some items that can sometimes have extra stats, like +1 attack extra than normal or -1. It's all RNG. Like the basil post says, the colors from scrolling depend on the amount of stats added to the item. Where pink is the godliest(best). I'm not exactly sure what the exact value for the colors are, but most pink items are primed. Prime scrolls can cost about 1.5bil mesos each and it's safe to say that 99% of people who use prime scrolls also use Guardian scroll and protection scrolls. Protection scrolls you can find from hunting elites( i've probably gotten 3-5 my entire maple life) and guardian scrolls are NX only(except you can buy 2 per month from the reward store).

So while you *can easily* make a shoulder with protection scrolls or cubes from elites and guardian scrolls from the reward store, who knows how long it will take you to make it look like those items youve seen

    @jumanji, are you in Luna?

In Luna, there are some items, left over from when EMS was different than GMS, that have what is called "additional stats" or "additional options".
The items could either drop with those stats or have them added via "flames."
That was a different mechanism than either scrolling or potential.

GMS does not have this feature, and items no longer drop with additional options, nor are flames obtainable, even in Luna.

Alright @AKradian, yes I play on Luna so that looks like the answer to my question, thanks! The fact that this system has vanished explains why I couldn't understand where the items came from. It was actually a tricky question ^^' That also explains why those items are so expansive if they are not obtainable anymore.

@forumsareannoying thanks for this high scrolling guide. I'm too poor to reasonnably think of it but its always good to know

Np. I didn't mean to use "poor newbie" "poor soul" to characterize you but based on your question... I hope you'd understand xD
