They miss what's already passed. Ultimately they are all just good memories of the past you had with friends and in game. The current Maplestory minus the cash shop is far better than old. They've improved on a lot more than they've ruined. Even if they made a new old Maple server it would never be the same. You might have some people come back to remember the good old days but that's it. After that they'll leave once reality hits them that it's never going to be the same.

As did the present RS3 players, when the idea of an old school RuneScape server came into fruition, now they're runner ups among the two games pulling in less player traffic.

You've got a big difference between people who are speaking about fond memories, & those willing to pick up where they left off 10 years ago to resume playing.

You could also make a case things are not the same when you're all grown, versus being a child, the community is what keeps a game thriving to be happy & healthy.

I don't know about you, but i'll always have my inner 10 year old self wanting to play old school MapleStory again long term with a community of people like myself.

I apologize, but i disagree with you when you say it will never be the same, that is what old gaming nostalgia is all about, going back to the age you played the game at.

Of course if you don't come to it with an open mind things are going to feel different, personally i'm not trying to bad mouth present MapleStory in any shape or form.

I'm just trying to show Nexon & the present Maplestory base that is content with the way the game is right now. Oldschool players are eager to jump back into a familiar game they once played back in the day.

I'll keep saying it, it's got nothing to do with a short term nostalgia trip, it has to do with an invisible community that pops up in spurts every once & a while because this community is not banded together right now.

It's scattered all over the globe waiting for a familiar voice to call them all home to reunite with each other once again. I encourage this community, Nexon & anyone else reading this to thoroughly go through these players comments expressing how they feel. Cheers!

I'm getting so tired of these same topics over and over again.
A game has to develop. If it didn't it would've died 8 years ago because everyone would complain about a lack of content. I understand people feel nostalgic, that's natural, but there's nothing wrong with the game as it is. And if you honestly think this game is too easy and classes are too overpowered, please, make a new character, level it to lv250 and then we'll speak again.

"Old school Maple" server suggestions are not allowed on the forums, if that's what you're going for.

    Old Maple
    - Do not create threads pertaining to Old Maple Servers, Legacy Server, Pre-Big Bang Servers, etc. You can talk about previous verions of MapleStory for memories and nostalgia's sake, but discussions surrounding starting up new services or servers are not allowed.

We have discussed the topic, Nexon has acknowledged the topic, we have had two Community Managers report back on the topic both with official word and with their personal opinions on the subject.
    The following issues have arisen:
    • Lack of playerbase - Simply having the server does not mean people will play it
    • Difficulty in maintaining such a server - An entire separate game team is required to manage such a server
    • Unsettled "when" - Players have demonstrated a complete lack of cohesion when it comes to selecting the version number they want; some want before Big Bang, others want before potential, still others want before pirates
    • Does it update? - Does the server update with new events? Is new content added at all? How is this content balanced and selected?
There are a myriad of other issues that have been brought up as well, ranging from nostalgia wearing off to whether or not it would even be fun to play at all.

At some point in the past we were forced to ban the topic due to it being spammed everywhere, primarily by a single person and not any sort of group. I will point out, further, that general opinion on both the forum and the subreddit (the two largest segments of the community) are against old-school servers for various reasons. Your images consist primarily of YouTube comments (which many people dislike and some even refuse to listen to, as there are a variety of plugins that replace YouTube comments with Reddit comments or even just replacing YouTube comments with random words) and a handful of Tumblr posts. I digress, though.

In short, the topic has been settled and is not allowed on these specific forums. Closed.
