I was wondering if anyone is actually completing the monster collection. And I'm not talking about the book, I'm talking about the whole window where you get chairs and character slots etc.

I just started playing Maple again and noticed it and kinda got into it. Was wondering if I'm the only one.
  1. Do you collect monsters for the Monster Collection?13 votes

I don't know of anyone who completed it (I think there are a few monsters that can't be acquired due to bugs), but I've seen two people post that they've got 600 monsters in their collection. So you're not the only one.

It's not just useful as something to pass time, when you've finished a collection you can make those monsters explore for you and after a set amount of time you get a reward and some reward points. I've gotten plenty of 50% epots, potential stamps and cubes to improve my gear this way.

the most annoying part is to hunt a specific elite monsters.

The elite monsters won't spawn unless you are close to the level of said monsters, and to make matter worst, you need to find that one "specific" elite monsters out of the many others. Like Beefy, Shadowy, Evasive, etc...

Aye the elites are the most frustrating part !

But alas, I am not one that's gone crazy over collecting them, but once I collected some, then all is good!
Just loved how I gained the Mu Gong one from the recent Red Leaf High event, and not dojo! :D

I agree that the addition of elite monsters is just making things unnecessarily difficult and it honestly stops me from hunting those altogether. A good way to improve on this is to remove the specific type of elite monster and make it so that any type of elite monster will count. It would also be nice if the "success rate" of collecting these elite monsters would be a lot higher since you can only spawn them while you are in their level range. And no, using Runes to spawn them doesn't work either since those, too, only spawn while you are in their level range.

I did actually notice that when I looked at the Elinel Forest monsters and there is a need for a raging tome I think, or something else which I know is an elite one.

But how are we supposed to get them later on if we can't summon them? Or is the collection account bound? And if so then are the rewards account bound too?

The book is shared between all your characters on the same world. Regarding the monster in Ellinel Academy, they only way to obtain it is with a character within the same level range as the map, or with any other character through the use of a Rune of Darkness. These runes have the same spawn criteria as elite monsters so if your character is outside of the level range you have to hope someone else spawned a rune in that map and didn't use it. Other than that it's impossible to get an elite to spawn there.

Ugh, the Rune of Darkness only spawns if you are in the level range? Ugh! That means I have to create trash characters just to farm monsters. I am lucky I have a few Level 1 mules! :(

But the worst thing is that there is a possibility you might over level before you encounter the monster you need. And even IF you encounter it, there is still a low chance of it recording in the monster collection. Unless there is a way to literally block the experience or freeze your exp, which would be handy for a small prize or something.

Either I must have been pretty darn lucky, or the rates have gone up. The first Elite Monster I encounter that has the prefix I need generally gets recorded.
