Hello Everyone,
My IGN is Pockoh and I am a Maplestory player who enjoys the brainlessly farming on MMO's. Maplestory has become one of my favorite MMO's since Reboot has been released. Since then, players of Reboot understand that Meso Farming is absolutely required of time in order to progress your range within the server. One of the biggest issues that players have encountered with Meso farming is the Pet Lag from looting from monsters OR from Multi-Killing monsters constantly.

Now I'm sure that most of you have never hit the second page of google searches to find solutions for things your looking for. But I've reached that point in determination to try and fix the issues with Meso Farming. Unfortunately, I was successful and unsuccessful. By this, I mean one of the solutions to fixing pet lag was by getting the DC glitch to having no quests in your quest tab. This would make your pet loot pickup 20 times as smoother and more comforting to Meso Farm. But it depended highly on RNG. so it's not worth it.

And of course, the unsuccessful part is not finding a solution at all. BUT, something clicked into my head. I notice that since pet loot was connected to the quests in your quest tab mainly because of Cash quests (all 50+ of them), It had to deal with why the section or the TAB of the quests were open.

EVIDENCE.png - Each quest will fall in a section. The green button closes and opens the sections to see or to hide what's inside.

IF you close the tabs in both your "Available" and your "Completed" Tab, your 2/3 Done with the Semi-Fix.

Next Thing: In the middle tab Labeled " In Progress" That is where all the problems reside (the cash quests). The "In progress" Tab will constantly open up the cash quests section so that you will always see what quests or bosses need to be killed to complete them, no matter how many times you hit the green plus sign and close the Quest List. To hide the section of Cash quests follow these steps.

Note: it always shows the cash quests because they are the only ones in there, if you have quests just continue to follow the steps below.

1. Accept 1 single quest from any NPC so that you only have 1 quest in progress chosen and accepted by you.
Evidence_2.png

2. Close each Section in the "In Progress" Tab
Evidence_3.png

3. Forfeit the quest chosen by you

4. Then simply close the Quest List and see if the Cash Quests stay closed

Now that that's said, all your sections in each Tab should be closed, and you should see less Lag when looting large amounts of meso bags during 2x or 1x. Thank you for reading~ Happy Mapling

You are right that the lag is caused by the game checking, for every item or meso that you acquire, whether any active quests need it.

However, the client goes through its list of quests in memory. It doesn't look at quests through the UI, and it doesn't care which section is visible or not. If you pick up an item, or kill a mob, that belongs to a quest in a "closed" section, you will still get the message in the middle of your screen about it. This proves that it still looks through the entire list of quests, regardless of whether they are visible in the UI or not.

The part of your solution that works to minimize the lag (and has been suggested since the no-quest glitch was found to eliminate loot lag), is the part about completing or forfeiting all possible quests "In Progress." Once you've done that, getting the Cash section to close is not going to change anything. As far as I can tell.

However. If it does make a noticeable difference, then one must conclude that the client recalculates whether it needs to show the "quest complete" icon next to every "visible" quest in the Quest UI, for every item picked up, and even when the window itself is closed. This is palmface-worthy design, but I wouldn't put it past Nexon's spaghetti coding. So I do recommend that this possibility be taken up with the team. (Especially since KMS was supposed to have dealt with quest-related loot lag in a past patch, and we eagerly awaited it, but it did not have the hoped-for effect).

so that's what's been causing the lag? Nexon decided to make it so it checks every single quest every time you loot? What's even the point of that?

This is meant mainly for meso farming and not for questing or getting items belonging to the quest otherwise, yes that message in the middle will continue to show up.

Also Arlong, part of the lag is caused by that yes. Hiding the tabs makes it smoother to open up the quest list. This means that pet lag is determined by the or is connected to how smoothly the quest list Is opened. To reduce it I made this solution.

Akradian if you open up the quest list it will keep the cash quest section closed no matter how many times you open it because of this procedure. When the section is opened it delays and takes a minute. But this slight modification made it easier or shortened that delay.

What I'm saying is that the time it takes to open the quest list shouldn't matter. The game doesn't open it when it checks which quests your loot fits.

I think your saying that the picking up specific items effects the fps in which it does. But what this post is about is reducing the lag or delay when looting items. Call me crazy but I Noticed even the slightest change to the looting of mesos when I was farming.

Is it helpful to forfeit every single quest I'm not actively doing?
