Question about Nova Coin/Shop

So Nova coin shop closes December 19th (PST), but nova coin box event goes on until January 2nd. What is the point of nova coins once the shop disappears?
Edit: I read the new illium event notes and figured it out lol

    Yup, season 2 shop, it's also why a whole bunch of the items are unavailable to be purchased right now, though it's funny cause to me that's the first time they've done that.
