Can Maplestory support Steam's new Proton?
Before i write anything, id like to redirect you too "
https://steamcommunity.com/games/221410/announcements/detail/1696055855739350561 ", for a few minutes as this post is where Steam Proton is better explained.
i know WINE itself isn't supported when trying to play Maplestory, but now since Steam now has their own official In-House WINE Wrapper/version called Proton; Is it possible to support Proton, so that Linux users can now play Maplestory on Linux? I know there is some people that would like to play on Linux, myself included! being that people in the past asked a way to play on Linux. Also, if Maplestory 2 would be released on Steam, maybe also have Proton support?

According to the article, there is an override switch which will allow you to try running it on non-whitelisted games.
If it works, it works.
The only reason you might not want to do this is if it breaks ToS, so if we could get a mod that understands those betters to shed some light, that would be great.
I personally only use windows because of certain games that refuse to work in Linux (Maplestory being one of them.)
I'm sure this is due to the anti-cheat software that runs along-side of Maplestory.
We'll either have to wait until Proton is further along for these types of games, or for Nexon to work out some kind of fix that allows their anti-cheat to run in Proton/Linux.
Since the Linux userbase is so small, and non-existent for Maplestory in particular, we'll probably have to wait for Steam on this one.
