Missing Characters?

I got Maplestory 2 just yesterday and got somewhat far into the game. I made 2 characters, both of which I made on the North America West server. However, this morning, both characters were missing. I have no idea where they are and how they suddenly vanished like that. I'm not sure if the game is autosave or manual save so maybe that's my issue? Whatever the case is, I'm in a bit of a predicament and I don't want to play the game if all my progress if just going to reset.
