Can PS3 control be used in MapleStory?

Hi all, I would like to know if there is any way to play MapleStory with PS3 control? Since I have observed in some forums that it is possible but using external programs and I ask this why I do not want to violate the rules of the game.

    the game has built in controller settings you will need to figure out how your buttons are numbered to bind them to keyboard keys
