This is going to overhaul the system that removes the pain points to Star Force and make the 23/24/25 stars realistic to eventually achieve. Also, adds in a mythical 26th star for only the truly die-hard committed!
1-20 Stars will no longer have a success chance, drop on failure, or item destruction chance and would be adjusted to simply be pay mesos one time and that equipment ranks up to the next star.
Stars 1-10:
~ Success chance increased to 100%.
~ Mesos cost reduced by 90%.
~ Star Catch reworked to reduce the mesos cost upon a successful catch by a small % (like 5% or 10% mesos cost reduction).
This is to make it easier for new players to get into star forcing and almost entirely remove the risk of not having mesos to do anything else afterwards. Basically, players can now freely star force any equipment up to 10 stars and almost not receive any punishment for doing so. This is the reason for such a steep 90% mesos cost reduction in addition to the 100% success chance to star rank up.
Stars 11-15:
~ Success chance increased to 100%.
~ Mesos cost adjusted and overall increased by roughly 100% per attempt, curved out from 11 stars and drastically increases as you approach 15 stars.
~ Star Catch reworked to reduce the mesos cost upon a successful catch by a small % (like 5% or 10% mesos cost reduction).
Increased cost per attempt, but with the 100% success chance this is actually a significant mesos cost reduction. This is also in line with improving the experience for new players and help them get into the game easier.
Stars 16-20:
~ Success chance increased to 100% (dropping of star rank removed as a result).
~ Mesos cost adjusted and overall increased by roughly 500% per attempt, curved out from 16 stars and drastically increases as you approach 20 stars.
~ Item Destruction Chance is removed.
~ Star Catch reworked to reduce the mesos cost upon a successful catch by a small % (like 5% or 10% mesos cost reduction).
This is an overall mesos cost reduction, but still pretty close to the mesos you currently pay to get to this point, on average.
Stars 21+:
~ Success chance increased to 100% (dropping of star rank removed as a result).
~ Mesos cost increased by 900%.
~ Item Destruction Chance is removed.
~ Star Catch reworked to reduce the mesos cost upon a successful catch by a small % (like 5% or 10% mesos cost reduction).
New system is introduced for Stars 21+!
In order to get to the point to pay mesos to star rank up, you must first feed that equipment Star Experience, excess star experience will carry over to the next star rank.
Once the Star Experience is at 100% you can then pay the mesos fee to star rank up that equipment to the next rank.
To get Star Experience you must sacrifice the same equipment on that equipment, the amount of experience is based on how many stars the sacrificed equipment had on it.
0 Stars: 1 Star Experience
5 Stars: 2 Star Experience
10 Stars: 4 Star Experience
15 Stars: 8 Star Experience
20 Stars: 16 Star Experience
25 Stars: 32,000 (thirty-two thousand) Star Experience
Star Experience required for the following star ranks:
20 --> 21: 1 Star Experience
21--> 22: 15 Star Experience
You feed your main 20-stars equipment another 20-stars same equipment, then all you need to do is pay the mesos fee for the 2 star rank ups to achieve 22 stars.
22 --> 23: 100 Star Experience
23 --> 24: 1,000 Star Experience
24 --> 25: 10,000 Star Experience
New 26th Star:
~ 25 --> 26: 1,000,000 (one million) Star Experience
~ Mesos cost is 100x of the 25th star's mesos cost.
~ In addition to the star force rank up stats, will also give 10% Weapon and Magic Attack, and additionally for level 200 equipment 2% Final Damage and additionally for level 250 equipment 5% Final Damage.
Though technically possible to achieve eventually, this is not actually meant to be achievable. This is intended to be a reward mechanism for the VERY LONG TERM PLAYERS that stuck to MapleStory for decades and been playing that whole time somewhat consistently. Basically a "thanks for being dedicated to the game for so long, here is a nice big spike in your damage as an appreciation for sticking with us for this long".
5 / 10 / 15 Sunny Sunday Event Changed:
Since the success chance would always be 100%, the 5 / 10 / 15 Sunny Sunday will be changed to:
~ On Star Ranks 5, 10, and 15 upon a successful rank up, gain an additional +1 Star Rank.
This means your star rank would go from:
5 --> 7
10 --> 12
15 --> 17
Skipping a star rank and going straight to the next star rank saving you on the mesos you would have spent on that next star rank at no cost and completely for free during this Sunny Sunday event.
Meanwhile 30% off has no reason to change since it would do the same thing, reduce mesos cost for star forcing by 30%.
Though, 1+1 should be combined with 5/10/15, especially since 1+1 is a terrible event, and this way it would make it exciting for the first time ever by always being a component of 5/10/15.
