Suggestion: Old School MapleStory (OSMS)
With the release of Old School MapleStory (OSMS), many veteran and retired players will return. My main concern revolves around the current generation of players. There is no incentive for current MapleStory players to play OSMS.
I would like to suggest introducing some form of incentive for the current player base to try Old School MapleStory as well. For example, rewards for reaching certain milestones in OSMS could grant rewards in modern MapleStory.
An insane request would be a Legion Block that gives Magic and Normal Att% per milestone. However, I am no game designer. If you decide to keep both worlds separated, that's fine. I just won't be incentivized to play it.
Comments
Not even talking "optional" content, but content that should be core to the game, such as the story is completely out of reach to the average player.
If you force players into it then it will be full of people who don't actually care about OSMS and will simply play it long enough to get what they actually want out of it.
That will create a toxic group of players who don't care about OSMS or what is best for it, simply whatever allows them to play less of it since they don't want to play it in the first place.
This will hurt data collection on OSMS, suggestions regarding it, give false perceptions on what kind of player wants OSMS, etc.
Think of collectables in fast food or cereal. All it does is bring in people who don't care about the actual product, they are only there for the collectable.
The people that came in for the collectable don't stick around and all they do is give the product a bad image by being obnoxious.
For the sake of both versions, this should be avoided at all costs imo.
You wouldn't want to force Heroic/Interactive players to play both server types.
Players picked what version for a reason and forcing them to play something they didn't ask for drags down their experience and the experience of those who interact with them.
