The best thing for Classic World for the long term interest of the game is to introduce entirely new areas and entirely new jobs that have a classic feel to them, and treat Classic World like an alternate reality rather than retrace the past as a what-if scenario if we did this instead of that.
One of the mistakes of old MapleStory was only having one true support job in Clerics, and by opening it up true supports jobs to have many more of them allows players an easier time to find a support to party with, but also give players options to find the support play style that they actually enjoy playing as instead of Cleric or nothing else.
This thief support concept will be relatively high in mobility for old school MapleStory standards and its main strength is as a party mobbing support class, still useful for bossing because of the support skills, but the strength will really be in mobbing gameplay.
One of the core skills is having a one-in-four directions dash skill that damages monsters you pass through with it, and apply certain debuffs to monsters and/or steal effects from monsters to give to the party.
This dash if you simply tap it, you will do a short dash a set distance in the selected direction and can be used in the air and you don't need a platform to dash, the range for tapping the skill will be similar to Battle Mage's non-extended teleport range.
If you hold the dash, you will charge it up in place and while charging you will enter the Dark Sight state, scaling the dash range to be up to 4x its base range at maximum charge and anywhere in-between for partial charge.
THE CONCEPT KIT:
Job 1:
Pickpocket Dash:
Tap: Dash a set distance in one-of-four directions, dealing damage to up to 4 monsters.
If you are solo, then this damage is quadrupled.
Hold: Charge up in place and enter into Dark Sight.
Upon release, dash in one-of-four directions up to 5x the range based on the charge.
Maximum charge is reached after 5 seconds.
Delicious Blood / Delectable Bleed:
Passive: Monsters damaged by Pickpocket Dash will receive a blood mark for 10 second.
Toggle OFF - Delicious Blood: Blood marked monsters move 35% slower and all attacks against by self and party members will heal for 20% HP. The same target can be healed once every 1 second by this.
Toggle ON - Delectable Bleed: Blood marked monsters move 70% faster and all attacks against by self and party members will deal 15% increased Final Damage. Monsters that do not move only take 5% increased Final Damage.
Swift Like The Wind:
Passive: Passing through party members with Pickpocket Dash will grant them 50 Speed and 20 Avoid for 30 seconds.
Passive: Every target you pass through with Pickpocket Dash, party member or monster, will grant yourself +10 Avoid for 30 seconds, up to +50 Avoid.
Job 2:
Pickpocket Dash II:
Passive: Damage is increased, can now damage up to 5 monsters, and the time to reach maximum charge is reduced to 4 seconds.
Heal Smoke:
Place down a marker for up to 600 seconds.
Use this skill again to return to the marker instantly and consume the marker, creating a puff of smoke of where you were and at the marker's location, healing self and party members that get struck by the smoke for 100% Recovery.
Passive: While the marker is summoned, every monster struck by Pickpocket Dash will grant a health packet to hold on to, up to 99.
When teleporting back to the marker, self and party members struck by Heal Smoke will receive a healing buff for 60 seconds, healing for +1% Recovery per health packet consumed every 1 second.
Stolen Stats:
Passive: Every monster you damage with Pickpocket Dash will take away 1 stat at random between -5 Weapon and Magic Attack, -5% Weapon and Magic DEF, or -5 Accuracy for 60 seconds.
The same monster can have its stats stolen up to 10 times at the same time, stealing from the monster an 11th time will give back its oldest stat that was stolen.
You will hold on to the stolen stats for up to 60 seconds, up to 20 stats at a time.
Passing through party members with Pickpocket Dash while you have stolen stats in hand will grant them a buff for 180 seconds equal to all of the stats that you had collected.
Job 3:
Pickpocket Dash III:
Passive: Damage is increased, can now damage up to 6 monsters, and the time to reach maximum charge is reduced to 3 seconds.
Flash Dash:
Toggle: Increase the MP Cost of Pickpocket Dash while active, at the end of Pickpocket Dash's range, flash bang the area around you, dealing damage to up to 8 monsters and blinding them for 10 seconds.
Experienced Hunt:
Passive: Party members that you pass through with Pickpocket Dash will receive a buff that grants them 20% increased EXP for 180 seconds. If at least one party member has this buff, then you will receive 50% increased EXP.
Passive: Damaging monsters with Pickpocket Dash will apply a shining mark on them for 10 seconds, monsters that die with a shining mark grant 50% more EXP than they normally would give.
Hunt of Greed:
Toggle: Reduce the total EXP earned for you and your party members by 50% to increase the Mesos Obtain by 20% and Item Drop Rate by 50% for monsters that were killed by you or a party member.
[NOTE: The total EXP would be cut in half, this would be a final multiplier for EXP. Choice between farming for mesos and items or grinding for EXP, creating a fun and interesting decision making dynamic.]
Job 4:
Pickpocket Dash IV:
Passive: Damage is increased, can now damage up to 8 monsters, and the time to reach maximum charge is reduced to 2 seconds.
Psycho Cutter:
Toggle: Increase the MP Cost of Pickpocket Dash while active by 10x, Pickpocket Dash will always be at maximum charge and perform a shadow dash on a 0.5 second delay that follows behind.
The shadow dash will deal the same damage and apply all of the same effect that Pickpocket Dash would apply.
Ninja Stars:
Toggle: Increase the MP Cost of Pickpocket Dash while active, summon forth stationary spinning ninja stars when you use Pickpocket Dash for 15 seconds, the amount is based on how long the dash was.
Ninja stars become consumed when a monster makes contact with one, dealing damage and stunning it for 6 seconds.
Pocket Change:
Passive: Dealing damage with Pickpocket Dash will cause monsters to drop a Gold Meso Coin, maximum 1 time per the same monster, which can be used for:
Can be looted directly by self or a party member, granting 10% of the mesos the monster would give normally. Pets cannot loot the Gold Meso Coin.
Can be used by a party member's Mesos Explosion and treated like a Maximum Meso Bag plus grants 77 Weapon and Magic Attack to self and nearby party members for 180 seconds.
Active: Pick up the closest Gold Mesos Coin and hurl it in a straight line, dealing damage to struck monsters and granting 77 Weapon and Magic Attack to self and struck party members for 180 seconds. This damage is quadrupled if you are solo.
