The Statue/Treasure sack Afterlands fiasco

I can't seem to trigger the statue or treasure sack, despite looking at guides & trying all weather formats/combinations, in the Afterlands dungeon.
Where: Luna server
When: All the time

I can see the click-me icon on the 2 NPCs in the Land of Riches, however it doesn't follow through
I've heard that you can only get this key if its done before you break open the castle, if you don't follow the order it seems to be bugged badly and doesn't let you access it.

There are a number of other people dealing with this too.
