Concerns with Auction House restricting CS Items

Hello, I had submitted a ticket to Nexon Support on the issue of Auction House now restricting tradability of cash items within the current world (Scania specifically in my case, but this would apply to all interactive worlds). I received the response that this was intended as it's captured in the patch notes so I would like to raise a few concerns that I believe warrants reconsideration or at least clarification.

Inconsistency in Trading Rules
The current implementation creates a contradictory system: cash items can still be freely traded outside of the Auction House, but those same items become untradeable only when sold through it. This inconsistency undermines the logic behind the restriction. If the goal is to limit the circulation of cash items, why allow direct trades at all? If safety or security is the concern, the Auction House is the safer, more regulated method of trading.

Impacts on the In-Game Economy and Player Trust
Many players have relied on the Auction House as a fair and transparent marketplace. This sudden change devalues those listings, especially for players who were unaware of the new restriction and purchased items expecting them to remain tradable as this was true prior to the current patch.

Undermining Long-Standing Player Expectations
Prior to the patch, the community had a well-understood and consistent rule: cash items remain tradable unless worn or explicitly marked otherwise. The abrupt change breaks with that tradition without a compelling justification.

Disincentivizing Use of the Auction House
By making Auction House sales less flexible than direct trades, this patch inadvertently encourages players to bypass it altogether. That introduces more risk to both buyers and sellers and defeats the purpose of having a centralized marketplace. It would be more beneficial for both the developers and the player base to promote use of the Auction House by keeping trading rules consistent across all methods.

I agree that this needs to be reevaluated for an "interactive" server as this change doesn't benefit anyone nor make sense. I would also like to add that they need to also reevaluate the maple point fee for buying items from other worlds which needs to be removed because it undermines the purpose of having a cross-world auction house that was meant to alleviate item scarcity. Why is the interactive (trading) server being made more difficult and inconvenient than the heroic (iron-man) server?

Agree to this. This is only going to incetivise direct trading like the old days of the free market. If anyone recalls the free market we all know how that mess was.

I also don't understand why the auction house now causes an untradable restriction but player to player trades aren't affected. Why take away such a huge source of trading in "interactive" servers? It's already hard trying to track down a seller and not everyone plays at the same time. Constantly advertising through megaphones is expensive and unreasonable, especially when you need a large amount of junk perms to trade in for stamps. Nexon locked stamps behind exchanging tradable perms but buying from the auction house makes them ineligible to be traded. Make this make sense. I want to be able to buy things from the auction house at my own leisure when I want it and still be able to move it to another character after claiming instead of waiting 6 months for a cash shop transfer event.

If I end up buying something in the current rotation out of impulse but don't end up coming up with an outfit to suit my characters, I want to be able to resell it in the future and get my mesos back. Because of this dumb "intended change" I'm more hesitant to buy anything from the auction house unless I really need it. Others have also expressed the same sentiment and are really put off by this restriction. If sellers can't make sales or it takes too long to sell an item, they'll be less likely to open more boxes since it's not making them consistent income like before v260.

Also note that some players left their tradable purchases in the auction house and logged in after the patch to realise everything was converted to untradable status. No mention in the patch notes, no warning, not enough time given to take things out, and no explanation. When they contacted Nexon support all they got was a vague reference from the patch notes (which again didn't mention previously bought items) and a slap in the face when told it was not possible to restore the items to how they were bought. No compensation and no solution was provided for this "bug".

    UPDATE:
    Scheduled Minor Patch - July 3, 2025
'Resolved an issue causing Surprise Style Box items purchased from the Auction House to become untradable.'

Pleasantly surprised to see that the restrictions on Auction House trading for cash items will be removed. It shows that our feedback was not only heard but acted upon, thank you!
