This new UI looks even worse experiencing it than seeing screenshots.
Not to mention the MapleStory personality is completely stripped away and it just looks bland and generic.

The functionality of it is absolutely awful as well.

This is not good whatsoever, go back to the drawing board, as in just revert to what we had.
0/10, you can do a lot better and you have done a lot better...

The new font looks weird on character select too.

New cash shop looks fine.

The new UI has completely lost the MapleStory style. It looks very plain, like a cheap single-player game, with no appeal at all. Instead of wasting time and manpower on such updates, why not conduct market research and actually deliver what players truly want?

I'm more upset with how Enhancements are locked behind LVL 20. I know its minor, but it would be nice to be able to start enhancing our own gear or be able to use a mule right away to scroll/flame something from the legion shop. Everything else is somewhat fine and I am still getting accustomed to the new layout. Reading the new item infomation is hard as the number of scrolls isn't immediate.

A bad UI is one you need to get used to.

A good UI is one that is second nature.

I play so many different games, and within the first 5 minutes if I am fighting against the UI, I will quit that game and uninstall immediately.

And the opposite, a good UI I never think about because everything becomes natural to use... despite how wildly different and new everything feels and to look at and operates.

MapleStory for the longest time has had amazing UI design that you never once had to think about or question, but if the game had this new UI back in the day, the game would have never taken off and grew.

There is also the 3rd aspect here, Koreans and Westerners are very different audiences as well. So let's say Koreans actually like this new UI (which I doubt, but for the sake of argument we say they do), it doesn't mean the West will.

i would revert everything, but keep the double amount of inventory slots for the decoration tab, plus it seems like people don't like the new MVP system either so that should be reconsidered to what to do as well.

if you must do a new UI design, then do it as a conservative approach, and any changes to the UI do a more democratic approach and one thing at a time so that players can actually be happy with the changes.

You are just lazy and unwilling until learn new classes and the game's UI and maybe you should uninstall. Pilots don't instantly know how to fly when they enter the cockpit. The plane is not BAD, the pilot is impatient and bad and shouldn't be a pilot if they aren't going to learn. Professional pilots both passenger and cargo have to consult the manual when they receive a new plane even if they have several thousand flight hours of experience during their career. I was lost at the first day of this update but was able to edit the menus and now I have all features I want quick access to out in the open and able to stash unwanted menu features and quickslots for a cleaner screen.

its not about conservative or democratic....its all about how well it perform compare to previous system

and as i wrote in the thread i started
Equip UI = worse, terrible slots placement for gear..the OG had it perfect....The pet UI got even more worse...OG: could see full details of the pet right away opening equip screen after a SINGLE CLICK....after 2023? update we had to click the new pet tab......after this 1 you got to click the new pet tab, you also have to HOVER over your pet to see how full its belly is....pure thrash

Inventory: its a damn screen clutter now(it need a resizing by grabbing the edges.....otherwise its fine if they add that functionnality and that the custom resizing save(preferably an "apply to ALL characters on the account function" so dont have to adjust it on all of them)

Inventory "lock" function.....the idea is good but currently useless.....if they could make it so that ALTS copy the main character Use&E.T.C inventory placement that would be nice.....the function is useless for equips however....if the alts dont have said items however...other items currently in that slot can take priority over the lock in ones

Enhancement System: another pointless screen clutter that do nothing improvement wise........the only upside is the "animation skip" when cubing which is about no different from the previous system pace........at most maybe a fraction(0.1 sec) faster than the previous cubing system

the new Quick Menu.....thats both an upgrade and a downgrade.....its customization is good.....but you can't place it wherever you want on your screen which is bad
....the icons sizes are also too small to my liking(make it hard to click and quickly locate)....give us 3 size formats for the icons
...the icons are colorless.....it make it even harder to identify the one you want to click.......color that stuff up geez(i provided colors which should be assign to each icons in the thread i started about the ui complain).....some of them respect previous color chosen such as
Cash Shop has been an Orange Button for 10+ years so ppl identify it as the color to locate when they want to go to the cash shop
Daily Gift is that green-yelloish color
Legion mark is a purple color so it should be purple

for the colorless ones i did pick some color matching the function theme
like Boss = Red(could also be that Black icon with a Skull instead of a Helmet)....but i think red is more of a matching color if an helmet is use as a boss icon
for the other ones just go fish them in my thread...not gonna repost it all here

Color Choice for ALL the new UI....its blend .....its poor quality(go pick some idea i posted in the thread i started)....not copy-pasting them in here either

Cash Shop UI: what was even the point of that ? its more annoying to read it horizontaly than vertically....the only improvement is the Cash Tab in there...the rest is just bad....with that said why are you offering us to access the "Equip, Use, E.T.C, Set Up" inventory tab when in the cash tab ? we can't put any of the things in those tab into the cash shop................i would strongly suggest to revert it all to previous model and upgrade the Cash Tab Model to this version.......keep the good....discard the bad

or you know....give us a toggle to switch between Old and New Styles instead of forcing it on us......its also good feedback for you NX to see what UI ppl choose.....it should tell you whats good and whats bad

implementing new systems is fine but honestly.....give ppl a way to provide feedback b4 a new ui system goes live.....comments.....a voting poll for specific details
if its mostly negative dont let it go live....simple......you could even ask players who are willing to design ui for FREE send you some designs trough a "Submit your UI Design here"
then let ppl vote for all of the submitted designs while also letting them drop a comment on each design..
so in the voting Poll options let ppl select these options

    "Good Formating, looks Perfect"
"Good Formating, but its missing functionnalities i'd want"
"Bad Formating, but it has some nice new feature !"
"Bad Formating, AND its missing core functionnality, its awful"

if option 2 or 3 are vote for...have those players state what they want or like from those designs to gather information and see how to implement those in the system
if option 1 is select it mean the player that vote for it dont see any way to improve the system further
if option 4 is select that mean the entire ui design was done RLY poorly or done as a trolling attempt

for players who want to help contribute but know they aren't good at making good formating....have them drop ideas in a comment section....gather and list ALL of their ideas for UI Designers to work with......as in them listing functionnalities that are currently missing and want

like common NX....you can save some bucks on UI designers if players are willing to design some ui for you for free and its likely gonna be top notch quality design too
once a system is perfect it wont need anymore updates untill new in-game features come in
you also get an happy player base(which mean more likely to stay playing)
the reason players be willing to design for free is because its also in their interest as it give them a solid ui to use as well...its not just to make other players happy, but its also self-useful

EDIT: Daxter....a lot of us learn how to use something at its full potential within 3 to 12 hours......usually i would never agree to Stacona requests, but this time its definetly a real issue, me and other friends are also rly upsets at it

now you mash the space bar without stacking windows for fast cubing and flaming. Starforce can just be held down

The most important thing that had to be mention is that new UI is so unstable to the point that right now, i'm trying for 10 minutes to soul my weapon cuz it's crashing the game :)

Daxter: Harvest key do nothing upon holding it down...its way slower than spamming left click and holding down the Enter key(which was an option before this whole ui mess.....left click + holding down enter still work even after this update)

also the stats change display too slowly now....so clicking too fast = reroll without seeing the new stats

total garbage on top of this whole screen pointless clutter

remember this that i posted about 8+ months ago ? guess what Nexon could have implemented all this time for cubing
but no.....had to take KMS garbage ui.......my ui design would consume easily 500+ cubes in less than 2 seconds if they added it in

ACTUAL Spacebar, not the interact key. Just hold SPACEBAR and you can star very quickly. For flaming and cubing, its MASH the spacebar since they dont want you rolling over good flames/pots if they enable full auto holding on the spacebar.

Spacebar is where the harvest key is at when you create a new character......dude....make the connection :S

and no its not quick..its slow...even by spam pressing space bar

as i said try holding down enter and spam left click.....world difference in speed than what your doing...and thats slower than what previous ui would allow

Honestly, I really like the new UI. I only came back to Maple a week ago, and the new 'ESC' menu is exactly what I always wanted. It's so much simpler to navigate compared to the old one. Previously, I would sometimes get lost trying to find items and would literally have to check the keybind menu just to locate what I was looking for.

I think the new UI is just a "shock" to players who were playing daily, but for me, having taken a long break, it was a welcome improvement.

I remember in another MMO, ESO, they made minor UI changes about three months ago—mostly switching from gradient borders to flat ones. Since that's a game I play daily, I still struggled to get used to it and hated the new look for about a month, even though the functionality and color scheme were essentially the same.

The biggest problem is that the UI is currently buggy, as some part of the game use old UI and some use new. I have issues were some UI elements don't work and have to change the map to load correctly, or the fact that the windows open in random places and I have to drag the window to be seen in full.
It also seems like there are new extra steps or windows that weren't there before, and I completely understand why people find that so frustrating.

Overall I think it is step in a right direction, but it should have been tested better before launching. Currently it feels like beta build and it should not.

Umm... you need to define simple.

Old menu had like 4 or 5 buttons in a vertical line.
New menu has like 50 buttons scattered everywhere.

Quite literally the old menu defines what simple is.

And no, previous UI changes were never negatively received because they were a good design to begin with.
There is a reason we kept the previous design for so long, it never needed to be changed, and it was changed for the sake of change.

I agree wholly in regards to the UI losing its particular charm that made the game unique and iconic in a sense. I don't think I enjoy the transparency choice that was made for the new menu (almost like Microsoft UI). However, while I do like that its mostly consolidated it into a single window and having a customizable quick menu bar, I'd rather they somehow differentiate certain menu tabs for ease of accessibility.

Most of my contention especially is toward the new font they've chosen for chat box, NPC dialogues, and equipment tool tips. It appears to be a bit too choppy and if not slightly eye straining in my opinion to the point I've had to increase the font size for chat box to be even tolerable. I sincerely hope they could plan to implement additional font features on top of additionally adding/changing the current font colors it's well overdue for.

Funnily enough, I started out truly disliking it, but starting to get used to it. After discovering how easy it is to make it your own, I kind of like it. Also, the fact that you can make it so all your characters use the same layout? Great.

    A good UI is second-nature.

I fully understand the Pokemon Legends Z-A UI and the game is not even out.

And MapleStory has never had a problem of getting used to an UI before this as well and they have went through multiple different UIs through out the years.
