Server Maintenance are usually suppose to fix bugs in the game. Some of the biggest bugs I've been hearing about is DCing during the login process and the intense lag in the event hall. This may sound like awful, but should Nexon close the game temporarily until their service is reworked? They could use the time to get better codes, reliable servers/hardware or fire the previous team who made the server lag. :P

I believe a risk like this may cost us maybe a month of Maplestory gameplay, I believe this sacrifice for may allow us to grind 2x without DCing or having to skip out on events in the Event Hall. Whenever I DC on my 3 PCs, I ask my alliance on Discord who else got DCd and almost everyone nods.

How would we stay entertained while the game is being reworked? If we get ever a new CM or a staff or the volunteers wants to "babysit" us, we can have more contests, games in the forums. We could have daily games and events while the servers are being worked on. Winners could get Maplepoints added to their accounts or mugs as prizes. This may help us pass the time on the long server maintenance instead of just forgetting about the game.

The team should also update us periodically on big achievements during their maintenance. IDK who likes computers, but they should update us on major things such getting an OP server or giving its specs. I get the feeling some players would complain about they should had taken actions ages ago and some may be drooling at the performance specs. This might not only serve as entertainment, but a way to let us know they Nexon is actually doing something.

After the long update, players can receive a compensate that suits the server downtime. Compensation would include Maplepoints, Drop/EXP Coupons in both Cash and USE forms, a few pieces Equipment that will help the player like CRA, Tyrant and Gollux as maybe a perm pet (come on, they are cute.)

Do you think Nexon would fix the servers and enhance our gameplay overall experience?

I don't think you understand how software development works, at all.
Which is particularly disturbing coming from someone who was in the MLC.

The game servers being up is is no way interfering with the development team trying to figure out what is wrong with them. On the contrary, it helps them, since they can see what happens on the server side when people try to log in, and they can try to log in themselves, or ask trusted users to attempt to log in from the outside (as Maryse described that she helped the devs resolve a lag issue in the past).
Regardless of how they figure out what's wrong, they code their solutions on their development system in Seoul, Korea. They compile and run and test everything there. They could not do it on the live servers, even if those were empty of users.

Also, if the users know the servers are going down for a month, nobody will buy NX for that month. Somehow I don't think that will make Nexon feel happy at all. Upper management will be on the devs back every day to get the game back online. They won't be able to work in peace just because we're not playing. The opposite is true.

Even if it is determined that the problem is that server hardware is too old, then the process of acquiring better computers, routers, etc, can all happen while the game is online.

And if the decision is to get new and better programmers, well, they need to be trained. And part of their training absolutely has to be playing the game on the live servers. Both so they'll know how the game is played, and so they'll experience some of our issues first-hand.

Once there is a solution available, be it a delivery truck full of shiny new hardware or a zip file of new software, only then does the live game need to be taken down so the existing hardware and software can be replaced. The only thing that interferes with the devs ability to fix our issues is the fact that they are constantly pressed to develop new content (or port new content from KMS/JMS/CMS).
So, if anything, we should "agree" to have a month or several without new content, just bug fixes and code cleanup (for performance or for ease of future updates).
But Nexon is certain that if they have even a day without events, or a month without a major patch, players will get bored and abandon the game. Which apparently is worse than players getting fed up and abandoning the game.

Which brings us to the crux of the matter: Nexon Korea needs to allocate more resources to MapleStory in general and GMS in particular. More or better ( = higher paid) programmers, better development tools, tidier development procedures and methodologies. As long as they don't do that, your willingness to give up your addiction for a month is touching, but even if all GMS players shared it, it still wouldn't bring us any closer to a playable game.

    > i would rather have some months without new content and a more stable game. the events are boring as well, and usually i only do them out of boredom or if they give SOME useful things,

    > in short i'd rather have a more Smooth and lag free KMS like experience, then to have Millions of boring new content,events,etc.... with the Laginess and Instability of GMS.

    > and what's good about having new content if all that if brings is more bugs glitches, and messes up the game even more, and because we get new content on top of our bugged content, the new content results being broken, unfinished, Unpolished, and ALMOST every time Half Unplayable.

    > so i think nexon should listen to AKradian, and stop the stream of new content and start the stream of REAL bug, glitch, code,etc.... Fixes.

    > Because a more stable game will result in more people wanting to play that will result in more players and that will result in more playerbase, And that will result in

more pleased playerbase because the game will have No/ A Lot less bugs, glitches,etc.... so that will make The players pleased, and nexon pleased.

    > Because honestly when i try to play the game and i get an Error,Disconnect, or any other bug, just from Playing the game normally i get discouraged in continuing
playing because i will know that even if i could play for an hour or 30 Minutes, i can still get an Error or a Disconnection problem at anytime, and for what?

    > only for the fact that i am playing a class that hits a lot of mobs and hits really fast, or for the fact that i got a Wrong Potential line, or that i am using a wrong skill, or just because the game wants to give me an error or wants to Disconnect me from the game for no Valid reason.

    > or if the game will crash when i will try to either select a region or to login ( i know that you can use the Task manager to see when maple has 300Mb etc,,,, ) but my point is that we don't need to Look for solutions for problems that we Shouldn't even have in the first place.

    > My point is that nexon should Stop with pushing out new and broken events, and Start fixing our current content and at least trying to make the game be more Playable, because in the end of the day the players want to play, and nexon want the players to play and be Satisfied ( At least nexon should want that if they want to even HAVE a playerbase In My Opinion ).

<p><font size="20"=>Nexon should Fix existing content before pushing out new content!</font></p>
