Hi guys,

I'm currently doing my thesis for graduation. I pick a topic relating to Maplestory attachment and now I need your help to answers some questions so I can have data to process the next step.

This is the link of the survey: https://forms.gle/uwMrfm2P64uav1x6A

Thank you very much for your time :)))

I think your survey is missing a couple of very important questions.
One is "Do you currently play Maplestory?" (because people who quit might have a different feeling about the game from people who still play)
and the other is "How often do you play Maplestory?" (because people who play every day might have a different feeling about the game from people who only play during Christmas or Summer break from school)

To add on (just being nitpicky here)
    1. When you say "purchase virtual product", you should clarify with either irl or ig currency (given, yes, I'm assuming you want people to assume irl, but I can confidential say I "purchase (and sell) virtual product (gear, spell traces, scrolls) because it brings me joy (since I like merching stuff)".
    2. Not everyone's in a guild.
    3. Should have put a "prefer not to answer" option or not required for the personal information part. (I'm all up for helping people do research, but I draw a line if it involves personal information, whether or not it's significant. Literally stop the survey part ways through because of that part. =l)

It was ok survey I feel more questions that can be challenging would be great. Then again it was simple and that's how most are so yeah it perfect for this situation :D but good job and hope to see more work from you ;)

Some changes I would make to the initial survey are based on the question structures. Agree/Disagree questions are more subject to skewed results, usually due to the agree bias (people are more inclined to agree with questions, which are usually leading) and straight-lining (selecting the same choice repeatedly in a survey, in the form of a straight line). I'd suggest, for example, changing the following question:
Being popular in Maplestory is important for me.
    1 - Totally disagree
    5 - Totally Agree

    to this:
How important is being popular in MapleStory for you?
1 - Not important at all
    2 - Slightly important
    3 - Moderately Important
    4 - Very Important
    5 - Extremely important

Some of the other replies in this thread made good points as well, so I won't repeat those.

The first question you mentioned is true, I will take note about that for the next survey. About the 2nd advice, I didnt make it clear that I'm aiming for the attachment of players to the game, so seasonal players will not be counted in my survey. It's also why in the "Year of playing Maplestory", I start from "less than 1 year". Thanks for your advice btw :))))

    1. It was confusing because I didn't clarify it. So in my thesis, I assume that the "purchase virtual product" is using real money to buy in-game items like booster, gacha and decorating stuffs.
    2. I agree. Either results will give me the conclusion for that factors, so just be true to the player's experience is the best.
    3. Good point. I will update the survey soon :)))

This is my first time doing this so there are many points to improve. Thank you for your words and time. I will do better next time, if there is next time :)))))

Thank you for your advice. I will see if I can apply it, because changing the question may affect many things :)))

If you can, please spread the survey to your friends also. I got banned from many discord channels for asking people to do the survey, but your comments really encourage me to keep faith on people being really helpful and nice in here. Thank you so much, guys. <3

How will you know they are seasonal, if you don't ask the question?

I don't know how it is with other games, but in Maplestory people will answer your "Year of playing Maplestory" with "10+" even if they only actively played 2008-2010 and since then have been taking breaks of months or even years and coming back occasionally to play in summer or with a friend, and then quitting again.

Good survey! When answering the how long have you played question i dont know what to say because i have played on an off for like 7 years but never like more then 2 months in a row, also i dont play maplestory for the friendship part, thats why im not in search for a guild or making friends. Hoping this could help a bit :=)

i wish nexon did care and make such survey so they can make the right updates....
oh well nice from you maybe GMS will take notes from your survey
    btw
allright questions but i think you should add chat box for more explain
    for example
I have fun while playing Maplestory
The actual process of playing Maplestory is pleasant

    why you picked 1-5
    different server different feel
playing evry day for 2h+ and playing evry day for less then 30min its not same or 2-3h a week for weekly reset

in my case about GMS i lost haveing fun like last year , because of hackers, server stabitliy and GMS $ business practices
so i come weekly at prime time untill i find server i might jump on (that makes me avoid bunch of issues that are around and noone from stuff is around)
