Bug type: Functionality, user interface
Brief bug summary: Marksman 5th job skill Split Shot is not affected by the passive skills Rangefinder or Vital Hunter, but battle analysis reports numbers that assume it does.
More details: When killing bosses, battle analysis consistently reports overkill of around 30% of Split Shot's total damage dealt. This is in comparison to the reported HP for each boss, and to kills not using Split Shot.
Rangfinder is a passive skill that provides up to 40% final damage depending on distance to the target (farther=better). If rangefinder were not functioning properly, the damage loss would be equal to up to 1-(1/1.4)=28.6%. If, as in the case of Jett's bugged mastery, the damage was visually shown properly but not actually applied properly, one would expect a reported overkill of up to 28.6% from the final damage portion of Rangefinder.
Vital Hunter is another passive that provides up to 50% ignore defense depending on distance to the target (farther=better). The effect can't be precisely calculated because it varies depending on both the character and the boss in question, but the difference in my case should usually be around 2-3% for Chaos Root Abyss. So the expected overkill based on math should be somewhere around 27-30% depending on how well I use Rangefinder.
Here are a series of tests against Chaos Von Bon and Chaos Crimson Queen that support this hypothesis:
Chaos Von Bon control (no Split Shot used):
Chaos Von Bon test #1 (Split Shot used, and effort was made to attack from as far as possible):
Chaos Von Bon test #2 (Split shot used, and effort was made to attack at point-blank range):
In both control and test #1, one dimensional collapse phase occurred. In Test #2, two dimensional collapse phases occurred. All shadow clones were killed with High Speed Shot.
The control shows no overkill compared to the reported HP of 100b. Test #1 shows overkill compared to the control of approximately 10-10.5b damage when factoring in the slight disparity in damage to main health bar and to shadow clones, or 27.5-28.8% of Split Shot's total damage contribution. Test #2 shows negligible overkill when factoring for the extra usage of High Speed Shot.
Chaos Crimson Queen control (no Split Shot used):
Chaos Crimson Queen test #1 (Split Shot used, and effort was made to attack from as far as possible):
Chaos Crimson Queen test #2 (Split shot used, and effort was made to attack at point-blank range):
The control shows no overkill compared to the reported HP of 140b. In test #1, Crimson Queen was not allowed to reach the heart/mirror stage to prevent mirrors and possibly hearts from adding damage to the analysis. In control and test #2, Crimson Queen reached that stage as the screenshot was being taken, but any attacks during that stage occurred before hearts and/or mirrors were summoned.
Test #1 shows overkill compared to the control of approximately 18.5-19b damage when factoring in the slight disparity in damage to the health bar, or 27.9-28.8% of Split Shot's total damage contribution. Test #2 shows no discernable overkill when accounting for health disparity.
This happens against every boss and not just those two, though I don't have any other battle analyses on hand, and bosses with adds are very difficult to get accurate comparisons with.
