If you open the map while in combat, the map window will lower its opacity. This feature is currently useless as the map itself becomes really hard to read and movement becomes locked after you open the map.

I agree that the transparent map is a bad idea.
If I open the world map, it stands to reason that I want to see it, and clearly.
In fact, the same holds true for other windows.

The only time I could see window transparency being useful is if I opened a window (such as Battle Statistics output, or Maple Guide, or Guild Bulletin Board) while I thought I was "safe" (on rope or empty platform), and have been studying it for a while, when suddenly I am attacked (such as by an anti-afk mob). In that case, yes, it'd be useful to be alerted to the fact that there's something going on behind the window I'm focused on.

But if I intentionally open a window while "in combat" then the game should respect my decision and let me see that window.

My suggestion is that this change be reversed or at the very least become a toggle in Options, until a logic, that is more consistent with real gameplay situations, can be worked out.

I agree, some windows should have transperancy, and some don't.
World map shouldn't be transperant, for example.
Other solution I can think of, is the option of disabling that function. Or choosing HOW transperant it would be (assuming we can control that).
