A large amount of events are centered around being able to afk for coins or exp.
Outside of events you have the dojo unity training center, and numerous counting-chairs. that encourage you to stay online and afk.

They never will. They have to show their investors that they have a large online player count.
Even if they are not actually playing

This paradoxical thinking of not investing in server infrastructure to support large groups, while also artificially forcing large groups online to inflate player counts, both median and peak amounts, is what ultimately might kill GMS at this rate.

just make easy and simple events that people need to play the gam. Having to gather constant coins every day and that it can take 30mins plus is just annoying and not fun at all, specially if u do it on multiple characters.

AFK people in town (or event maps) don't put much load on the servers at all.
The load comes from people (or bots) who are training. The server needs to keep track of all the monsters in the map, all the attacks, all the drops on the ground, etc.

facts and the hypocrisy PR excuse " influx of players" when GMS is at all time lowest player base
imagine few years ago when we had 200-500k players ~

whats next auto ban kicking/ban leftover players that afk outside of events?

also investors are not that stupid to see only numbers
hence the nexon sale fail early this year

Game has more garbage spaghetti coded added over the years. Years ago, the game was more simpler and wasn't bottleneck by limitation we start seeing in the current era.

yea but we also had weaker system back then and the game was runing fine on 1-2gb ram with pentium 4 in FM with 100-200 players spaming S>----@@@@@@@@ at any moment of the day

the days when GM's did boss town spawn had over 2k players in hene just fine not to mention the 30players boss raids
later all that turned to dc fest where not even 10players can do
now all that is just discouctinued untill some better days and is questionable if we ever get to see that...

Server capacity is obviously tied to the number of concurrent players and potential peaks. There is no point for nexon to maintain a server that can hold 500k players with just 10k people. The problem now is that even with 10k people (lets say), server capacity should at least be double (20k) just in case it peaks. Nexon clearly doesn't believe in safety factors, it seems like they are just trying to squeeze every inch of milk from our region. The result? Well the recent DMT should give you an idea.

player base numbers is not issue here as much as poor code optimized client ( unless we talk about couple milions users daily... )
a good server host for 50k players (when GMS is at 5-10k) is a joke this days with all the computer power we got vs what we had 10years ago... especially now where we can find high end cloud game service for free or 50-70$ +- /year for ultra ultra performance gameing ...

think am not allowed to talk much about this here... but there is maplestory servers that host with twice the player base of GMS just fine
and from what i can see just with MVP system and all the diamond users, sure nexonNA makes good amount of cash each month ( or 3months...)
instead of wasteing money on meme site and (1 ig post)

Have fun training/farming then. Punishing people for playing, just to maintain server stability, is literally one of the worst QoL changes I've ever heard.
