Lara and Blaze Wizard Alternate Teleport Modes
These suggestions to greatly improve these classes is allowing the option to right-click their teleport skill in the skill window to turn it into an alternate version to greatly improve their playability, especially during boss fights.
Blaze Wizard:
Flashfire: This skill normally is set a teleport pad down and then upon using the skill again will teleport the Blaze Wizard to the teleport pad and consume it.
Alternate Flashfire: Blaze Wizard teleports a set distance forward or in one of four directions based on the direction key being held.
If a teleport pad was placed down when switching to this alternate version, it will just disappear.
Preferably have this teleport function like Battle Mage's teleport would be ideal, but functioning like Explorer Mages' teleport will work too.
Flashfire is a great tool while mobbing, but not very good while bossing and the flash jump does not cut it either.
Lara:
Dragon Vein Traces: This skill normally is gaining a charge every 6 seconds, up to 3 charges held at a time, and upon use Lara will consume a charge to teleport herself to the nearest dragon vein in play based on one of four directions of the directional keys and deal damage to nearby enemies.
Alternate Dragon Vein Traces: No longer consumes charges, has no cooldown, and does not deal damage to teleport Lara a set distance away based on one of four directions of the directional keys being held down.
This should function exactly like Battle Mage's teleport as Lara lacks the ability for reliable air time and she cannot use her vertical jump while in the air and having a teleport that will move Lara without the need of a platform will help with this.
This is very needed to give Lara a reliable teleport that she has full control of which is especially important to have while bossing.
To be clear: these teleports are an opt into and opt out of as many times the player wants, whenever they want to, between how the teleport works currently and between changing to a more normal style teleport like how explorer mages or battle mage teleports function.
Comments
These changes alone would make the skill more than good enough, I find the skill useless in mobbing and extremely useful in bossing, but it's easy to get gimped out of your teleport since you have to stop attacking, cast it AND watch an animation before you actually teleport.
This would be an alternate mode so you have the option to choose what teleport style you like more.
If you find Blaze Wizard teleport to not be insanely good while mobbing then you are mobbing on them wrong, they completely dominate every single map in the game and is one of the best mobbers in the entire game.
GMS blaze wizards used to have both casts of the teleporter to animation cancel every single skill then it was removed in Destiny with zero mention in patch notes.
I understand how it's useful during mobbing, I just don't care to use it that way. I only (rarely) do dailes on BW so maybe if I were actually grinding on it I'd use it.
But given that (if I even do them) dailies only require 200ish mobs to kill before moving on, I can't be bothered to learn the map setup for it. That's why I find it useless.
Bosses however, I do weekly so the skill is useful inside of those.
Not a map setup though, it is just class knowledge of how to mob on the class and becomes muscle memory, works for any map.
Muscle Memory applies to specific maps. Again, I don't play on this class very often for grind so "muscle memory" is just "Jump back and forth while doing something else until 200 mobs are dead."
I think the skill is just as useful in (some) bosses as it is in grind, and thus needs to have QoL applied to it, not really "replaced".
I know you're suggesting an "alternative" but lets be real, do you think anyone is going to bother learning the already unpopular teleport on the least popular class?
I think the teleport is part of the charm of the class and I'd rather the QoL on it be improved and people learn it than a "fix" be applied to something that isn't really broken in the first place.
I would say however, Lara's teleport needs far more work to be consistent as the behavior doesn't always seem to react the way you want it to. Perhaps I don't have enough exposure with the class but I couldn't ever figure out how to get it to work exactly the way I wanted.
Nothing would be replaced, it is an alternate mode you can toggle between whenever you want in the skill window, just use the one you like more.
Blaze Wizard teleport works fine as it is now, but having an on demand and reactive teleport for bossing would help them out so much more and if you don't like that then keep / change back the teleport to its default state whenever you want and other people can have use a normal teleport on Blaze Wizard.
Lara's teleport now is teleport to the nearest dragon vein in the direction you are holding with the directional keys. As the dragons veins are random, so is the teleport essentially, even though there is control it is not good enough while bossing.
A battle mage style teleport would be best for Lara as this would allow Lara to have better air time and reposition in the air better since vertical jump can only be used on the ground.
Giving players the option to use a regular teleport over the current one is replacing it for players who don't use it. I would rather players be forced to learn the unique playstyle of Blaze Wizard than have Nexon add options to accommodate players who can't be bothered to learn how to properly play it.
I think BW's teleport is fine as is (Aside from some QoL changes) and I'd rather Nexon not just do the same thing they did with FJ and give a mechanic to all classes.
It's about keeping the class unique. As you said, the teleport makes them great in mobbing, I say it makes them great in bossing as well, that they don't need a normal teleport at all.
The problem isn't which one I like more, the problem is I don't think it belongs on the class in the first place. We can agree to disagree on this.
This is what I mean by it needs to be consistent. I agree that Lara needs to be changed I think her biggest problem is that it's hard to know what the teleport will do if you use it.
On paper it's good but since the veins are constantly changing and popping up with new ones I think this one might need to go back to the drawing board.
Maybe it would be enough to just change the graphics of veins that can be teleported to. Have them appear to be a slightly different color or different size to indicate that if you go in that direction, that's the vein you'll end up at.
Create a Rightclick-Costumization [Dragon Vein Reading] a Rightclick-costumization which could state:
When Costumization is used, only the two (2) nearest veins alter thier element and location. The 2 (two) outer veins wont change elements and location except when Lare is to far away after which they spawn in (X distance) to the nearest when 2 (two) veins exists.
If a vein becomes the outermost it will instantly reform and carry the aspects of an outermost vein.
Thats for theory, no idea how much work that is for the coders though.
Sincerly
LipFlare
This idea is already a right-click alternate mode.
That idea is too complicated and basically works how it currently works now so it would be pointless to implement.
If you could right-click the skill to change between how it currently works now and between turning into battle mage's teleport style would be the best solution as people who just want to use Lara's teleport as is can do that and those that want a normal, predictable teleport with a set distance can do that too.
Please, no. We don't need to make any changes to Flashfire.
Fire Walk is already a completely passive skill that provides nothing to Blaze Wizard. Just change Fire Walk to be either a teleport or, if you're feeling really frisky, make it a dash like Wind Archer's Wind Walk.
The idea is two options for the player:
By default: It will be exactly how it is now. Place teleporter pad down and reuse the skill to teleport to the pad.
Alternate mode if you right-click the icon: It gets used like a normal teleport, either explorer mage style or battle mage style teleport.
It will be just like Wild Hunter where you can choose between default area damage hurricane or right-click the skill to turn it into a mobbing burst skill, but both are options players can choose from of which they like more.
So the suggestion here is you can play Lara / Blaze Wizard exactly like they are now if you prefer that style or opt into a normal explorer mage or battle mage style teleport and can swap between the two modes any time you want by right clicking the icon in the skill window like a toggle.
