Easier way to ban and report botters

Wouldn't it be easier if we had some "trusted players" that can make ~5 sec clips of cheaters with a report option in game that also lists the name of the cheater so that GM's can easily judge the obvious cheaters on the 5 sec clips and when one gets banned and there are more clips of that specific person it will of course remove them from the judgement list because they're already processed.

This of course won't get the channel swapping botters but it might be a good try for the others out there.

"Trusted players" could be for example the active 250's in the server or other players that have been verified to be good behaving players.

Update 1:
Another idea could be to stimulate good reports on some kind of karma points, a good report will give you karma points and a bad report will make you lose karma points. They could maybe add monthly rewards which depend on the amount of karma points you have by the end of the month.
Those rewards being for example:
- 2x coupons
- Reward points
- medal of honor
- master/meister cubes
- flames
-etc.

Update 2:
after some more thinking about AKradian's feedback, maybe maple should have a kind-of similar thing to CS:GO's Overwatch system (of course with rewards to make people actually do it) it could have a line as well where you would need at least this amount of legion levels or playtime. So to explain here someone makes a ~5 sec clip of a suspected cheater, then you can let the rest of the community vote by watching the clip and if it does turn out to be a cheater according to the votes, then it's worthy to go to a GM. With this you will filter out all the useless reports by using your player base thus having less reports for the GM's to go through.

please leave your own opinion about it below with maybe some constructive feedback and your thoughts.

Great idea but keep in mind that reporting is 100% useless. there are not enough GM, or they just don't care about it anymore. but in any case, it's 100% useless.

But I think it'd be better to just let some trusted players the ability to ban hackers/botters, for example, there are over 12+ botters in Bera, ch 1 henesys, spamming 24/7 and yet, no one care about it at all. this is really getting out of control.
So just imagine if someone that can actually perm ban, would show up in henesys, believe me, he'd have a LOT of hackers to ban.
But the most annoying thing is that, there is NO end to them, they'd just keep coming like ants! this is really crazy.

Problem with that is that a player with banning abilities has nothing to lose but his ability to ban people (no job etc.) one of these players even if trusted could ban someone for no reason or being in a fight with someone. Gm's aren't actually doing nothing, they do patrol maps but it's very inefficient to patrol maps, instead making them judge from short server-side clips that cannot be modified would be a lot less time consuming for the GM's. i did add another idea to stimulate good reporting by players i just thought about.

What you're suggesting sounds a lot like the MWLB that we had a while back.
The MapleWatch Leaf Brigade were players who would patrol the game and submit videos of hackers to real, paid GMs to check and ban.
    And what happened?
The real GMs couldn't keep up with the reports. It was very disheartening for the MWLB members when they report a hacker and that hacker is still running free a month later. People kept losing motivation and dropping out.
Eventually someone broke NDA and the entire program was scrapped.

A fix for that would be an in-game option to report with video evidence ~5sec clip that makes all reports into a format which is very easy to judge for the GM's. Also not all players should have this option, just like Counterstrike where they have the Overwatch system which you as a player need at least X amount of game wins and at least X rank or higher. Which for maplestory could translate into for example MVP level, legion level or total hours played. the top Y players which have the most of either can have this report function to help out the community. Y being the amount of players Nexon can and is willing to keep up with.

If you have a good system it shouldn't flood your GM's with evidence but it still is way more efficient and less time consuming than patrolling maps as a GM since you can have thousands of people basically feeding them to you.

of course a good system being no double reports as in all reports are saved but if just 1 was enough to judge you don't need to look into the other reports of the same person and if the report was vague you can also have an option to watch a clip of the same cheater from another player. Maybe add a cooldown period of about a week on someone that gets reported a lot for nothing (but this last one might be exploitable).

@AKradian i've edited the original post with some additional things thanks to your feedback

    Just give up.
It doesn't matter how many good/bad ideas you're going to bring up, this is Nexon we're talking about, they'll do their best in order to prove that our ideas are bad and why they won't work out.

Nexon are smart enough to figure out a way how to get rid of those botters/hackers, but they will never do that, why?
Because there is an insane population of hackers/botters, I bet it's around 65%, but that's more than 50%, that's for sure.
Simply take a look at the bars in Bera and then go to some famous places such as Henesys, etc.
The moment you leave Henesys or a few other popular places, you will rarely run into legit players, if at all.
So basically, if Nexon take care of hackers right now, the game would look really really empty (exactly as it suppose to really look like, but it just doesn't look like that right now because of the insane amount of hackers that we have which are filling up the bars in Bera and other worlds).

In my opinion, the best solution would be to just have a new and different managementin Nexon America, yes, another management, because the current one is just as bad as you can see when you log into the game and see the amount of hackers that we have.

Unfortunately, in Maplestory, levels or MVP rank or hours played or all of them put together are not enough to guarantee someone is trustworthy or legitimate.

The MWLB were also a select few. The flood of reports did not come from all players, only from those few. And Nexon still couldn't keep up.

The only way to have a hope of getting the hacking/botting population under control is automated detection. We have to hope Nexon figures out something better than their last couple of attempts in that direction.

I just ran afoul of an Ark botter in Kerning Subway. He must have been using some illegal program to kill everything in one hit and he lagged the game so much it froze multiple times. Worse, it's in Area 2, Line 3... THE ONLY PLACE THAT HAS THE SHADE MONSTER!!! That means everyone can kiss their hopes of filling in that part of their monster collection goodbye. I hope the maintenance coming up to replace the current Tenebris with the one we are getting will kick him out because I am very upset right now because I can't get that line of my monster collection complete as long as he is there, lagging up the PC.
