Switch Controller detected but inputs not working

In the gamepad settings, my PowerA Switch Controller is detected but for some reason, the inputs don't work at all and I have no idea why. I've tried launching from big picture mode, disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting, etc. I've been looking at getting a pro controller lately, but I'm not sure if that would help or fix the issue either.

My suggestion would be to completely circumvent the built in controls by using Big Picture mode's features.
This isn't supported by nexon and is technically against ToS. It's unlikely you'll be banned unless you use it to perform macros, but it should still be noted.
Make sure you run steam in Admin mode if you wish for this to work.

Given that Maplestory can launch from Steam and Steam BPM, it really shouldn't be against TOS because Steam isn't a third party program or feature, BPM is a feature of the launcher maplestory now uses. .

I know exactly what problem you are facing my man, You have to right click the properties of both the steam and Maplestory shortcuts on your desktop under short cuts tab you will see an advanced button click that and then select and put a check mark in the "run as administrator". from then on steam will identify your controllers, if u don't run them as administrators your controller through steam big picture will not work for the game but only work inside steam. Also when Arwoo was here I asked if it was ok to use steam's built in controller support instead of Maplestory's built in and he gave me the big thumbs up, so it is safe and I know many maplers who use steam's joypad controller configurator so Thx you & your welcome!

This is probably true, but it's still unsupported by Nexon, so don't expect any help.
What I said about macros still applies as well, don't do it.
