Belgian restrictions

I've been playing Maplestory for a while. I know that the most important items in the game are cubes. And since the Belgian law update happened, us Belgian players are not able to buy them in any way together with many other useful items. I understand why Nexon made this decision. But is there really no replacement for us? Do we lose the ability to buy those items and get nothing else instead? I don't think that's fair.

This is a matter exclusive to your country and its laws. Thinking it "fair" or not has no bearing. And honestly? Good on Belgium for putting their foot down regarding this loot box garbage that's infested so many things nowadays. I can only hope that more and more countries follow suit.

As for the nexon-specific part, they likely only saw two ways to go: either restricting Belgian players from being able to buy random-chance items, or completely block Belgian players from the game.

I wish the game's progression wasn't so incredibly dependent on random stats given by an item that requires purchasing in obscene quantities. I hope the loot box laws spread deeper in the industry soon.

sadly it wont, there is allways loopholes for them or in worst case just get restrction like belgium, netherelands or start offer them [redacted].

gamble p2w its huge thing allover gameing industry (bilions of dollars each year) so its hard to go away
even showing the rates law didnt change much (who know if the rates are still correct in GMS ) [1] [2]

also most of them claim that lootbox its not gamble you allways "win"
but if casino offer "cheap" drink for each 10$ spin its gamble its their logic

but oh well it is what it is, there is still our decision so carefull what you fall in for before its to late~

Cant wait for this law to come to the rest of europe so this gamble bullshit ends on all this type of games, im tired of spending a sht ton of dollars and the rewards being so random and shitty that i can end with even worse things than before or with not winning anything good at all, srsly if i want to gamble i go to a fking casino, not to a kids videogame

its not gamble if you "win" something each time you spin/open box (the logic i wont forgot)
    casinos :
its time to offer "free" flavored water to our customers so they win something

btw i rather gamble in casino/online sport beting too where i feel more safe with my money and more satisfied
but like i said everyone with their own will/decisions

lootbox arent banned anywhere its just gamble regulations that limit them like casinos
but nexon its stuborn and allways find way to go around that gamble regulation (which is trend in p2w games)
as i know eu and asia allready made the law about it but most countries dont act on law
(some cus bilion $ a year revenue this gamble loophole make some cus corruption in their country)
korea allready made restrictions (some of them nexonCEO talked as reason of selling company)
they go far and even limit overall spendings and more
