Can the GMS team actually tell us what's going on with the Kishin situation before they hit the switch? Memos are great and all but I don't want a memo saying something like 'we've thought long and hard and have come to the decision to nerf kishin permanently and will compensate it with a small change (15% mob exp etc) we are sorry and will strive to make the game better'.
There was a moment in the nexon Q&A where a twitch streamer (Matt) inquired about the Nebulite-Flame situation and Savage Ace said something like 'would you guys like to have flames instead of Nebs?' (to which Matt responded in the affirmative). I believe this moment actually solidified Nexon's decision to replace Nebs with Flames and it was all due to a simple exchange.
I bring up this instance of communication not to derail the thread but to demonstrate the effective act of consulting players PRIOR to major changes. Since Kishin affects the majority of players, I propose that we the players should democratically decide the fate of Kishin.
The way I see it, Nexon simply wants Kishin's current spawn effect gone. Just gone.
They stated that their network buffers are stressed due to constant mass kishin from all servers. Whether or not you accept this premise, it is clear that what they are really trying to say is 'we would like the spawn effect from kishin removed'. Why else would they come up with a solution to amplify EXP and mesos instead? Therefore I do not see how any of these solutions actually answer the question nexon is posing: How can we make kishin function without its current spawn modifier.
Spawn modifiers should have never been introduced to this game. Both Kishin and Frenzy have created far more problems than it has solved. People can't even let the former go without the latter going as well. This is how dependant we have become on spawn modifiers and the kanna class.
Time limited events serve a purpose. To make sure players don't miss out on key events, their attention is on the game 24/7/365. Its a common tactic in the video game industry called FOMO (fear of missing out). It does punish players but in the eyes of a company, an active consumer is more valuable than a seasonal consumer. Therefore, I doubt nexon will make these types of rewards distributed outside of time limited events.
The thing about this particular event is that we know it returns around the halloween update. This is where seasonal players like yourself drop by for the goods. This is not the case, they have decided not to bring back this event for some reason. Its strange because the event itself is highly RNG and has been criticised as such, so the only fear players would have is not getting any dark totems, since they can just wait it out for next year.
Either nexon phased out these events (perhaps to clean up non-KMS content or to bolster the Marvel machine rewards which contain said totems) or they plan to re-introduce them later at a random time to maximize the FOMO-effect. In any case, the lack of communication about this whole episode is concerning.
Anyone else find this absurd? The fact that Zero cannot be made in reboot because (among other things) its 'smooth sailing' to lv180 yet we are getting an event that gives you an easy path to 200, simply makes no sense.
