So, with as many cheaters as the game has, and players having little to no means of actually reporting them. I feel like it would be a massive boon for the game to show players, or even reward them for helping police the game. Think... hacker bounty. When reporting a cheater, players who file a report that helps ban a cheater, reward the player. 1% of the hacker's meso, or a small bit of maple points. If players can see a real sign of reporting hackers, botters, and other cheaters, the amount of cheaters can hopefully be cut down, and with that... hopefully the health of the game can improve.

Nexon recently removed the "/find" command and allowed people to prevent others from using a hyper tele rock to reach them. This is in addition to having "invisible login" where even your guild and buddies can't see that you're logged in. When we asked to restore "/find", Nexon flat out told us that it's not players' job to track down cheaters. It's clear they don't want us reporting more than we already do.
There is no shortage of reports.
There seems to be a shortage of GMs to check on them.

This is without a doubt correct. As my own research suggests there are roughly 9-12 GMs for the game. And if you pay attention to the login screen... there's more than 12 servers. Pair that with as many cheaters as there are, it's a massive undertaking for GMs to manage all the areas at once. That's really why I figured having players goal oriented against the cheaters would be a good idea.

yeah, they basically show how many GMs there are when they show the GM event list. It's no more than 2 per world/ alliance, I believe one or two has 3 GMs

it's not our job to find cheaters except when it's our job to know when an item has or hasn't been duped

That isn't apart of the game play, if you're at the point where you want to bot hunt on maple you have to reevaluate what you're spending your time doing, and if its really worth your time.

It bears mentioning that all the things you've said, removal of /find, HTR toggle and invisible login, were all added in kms to solve problems that are pretty much exclusive to either kms itself or the asian market as a whole, and then needlessly copypasted to gms to seemingly solve problems that simply do not exist.

created more opportunity for bots, not just jibberish named bots but players that bot and play the game's content

All the more reason why lazily copying KMS content without evaluation is not a good idea.

People used to report like crazy. Now Nexon has made it pretty much impossible to track down and get proper evidence against cheaters. The removal of /find and other features were done to prevent harassment. At least in the case of KMS. I don't think there has been an instance in GMS where a streamer has been harassed. There aren't that many for GMS to begin with. Even if they were it still wouldn't warrant the change.
