Nexon isn't going anywhere. We just had a major server merge, for MapleStory alone.
If you check https://ir.nexon.co.jp/en/ here you'll see that Nexon actually just acquired a young company to help drive the western market.
You can see that Nexon is doing fine for themselves if you check their quarterly earnings report.
Nexon of America isn't doing that great, but they're not about to just give up on the western market after spending a lot of money to retake it.

Also, shenanigans at the top of the corporate ladder don't necessarily mean the dregs(that's us!) are in for a world of hurt.

Nexon tried to sell and proved that no one wants the company, not even themselves.

Actually it was just the majority share holder that was selling his shares in the parent company.
He's also known for getting into trouble, he most likely wanted out of the business world, not because Nexon is failing.
The probably isn't that nobody wanted the company, the problem is that it costs 9 billion dollars.
Not everyone is willing to spend that kind of money and the deal fell through due to shenanigans.

Why Netmarble?? They're just about as bad as Nexon KR at putting a price tag on everything.

I don't think you know how little Nexon NA has any say in anything. If Nexon NA shuts down, the game will most likely be transferred to Valofe, which seems to be Nexon's game sunset division.

earnings report its just PR last few years for investors/potental buyer (everything its good, positive earning , puts 10b $ price tag + quick & "suddenly unexpected" gets on market with poor communication, probably because most at nexon were shocked aswell and didnt know what to say)
(the ship is sinking quick leave and sell it as brand new they wont notice)

why so much projects close & jobs reduction if its going ok ?
they just had employers demnonstartion in korea why ?
nexon eu was doing great and "suddenly" closed/migrate all their service many lost job without word,
Nexon na most likely pull same card & merge with KMS as english patching only (cover with some base explain to better serve the game.... and dont say much about lost because of NDA)

btw the game -MapleStory- isnt going anywhere for sure, it cant just disappear and never again see & play

Nexon's stock is still doing very well. Investors seem to disagree with the notion that Nexon is dying.

    https://anticorruptiondigest.com/2016/08/01/nexon-founder-indicted-in-latest-south-korean-graft-scandal/

This is also most likely the reason Nexon was being sold.

As for employees being fired, no job security, offices being shutdown and earnings report being "everything is good", you seemed to have missed something.

Nexon is expecting profit to fall off. As far as how this affects employees...
    xF4hnHj.png

Do you perhaps notice a huge increase in total staff? Nexon is just getting rid of people they predict they're not going to be able to pay in the foreseeable future.
This means closure of locations and projects being canceled. Companies do this all the time.
They picked up too many employees too fast and now they're reeling it back in.
Look into the facts that we do know about Nexon and it can all be explained logically.
I will still argue that Nexon isn't going anywhere and people will probably have this same debate in some odd years due to some other random thing.

nexon co ltd its something else ...
they got investments and things like that in other fields outside of gameing and some in gameing (crypto coins etc etc)
their gameing department fails and receive decrease as you show
and thats their main selling future in gameing world , thing they show investors (or often dont show)
nexon closed few games and few "sold" in last few years and thats not a much liked by investors

furthermore regulations strikes in korea and around the world slowy against nexon and other game companys @@@@@ this too @@@@@

but about maplestory am sure someone will take over and run it (and its going to be hard time untill changes effect come)
there is no game in the world that shutdown when there is no simular/same/better & high interest for it

    @Wonderguy
You are still misinformed. NEXON Co LTD is the company that is focused on gaming. They are turning out a profit, as shown earlier in the thread. They aren't failing.
The investments outside of games that you mention are held by the parent company, NXC Corp.
NXC Corp. is not publicity traded, this means that anyone who invests into NEXON, is doing so because they want to invest in a GAMING company.
Please do a little more research into the topic before you spread doom like that.

Some more insight into the business world of gaming if you will.
    Look up a few games.
Super Mario 128, Mother 3, Mystical Seed of Courage, Dinosaur Planet, Kirby Adventure, Project Dropship, Mega Man Legends 3, Final Fantasy VII, Duke Nukem Forever, the list goes on.
All of the above games were either put on the shelf to sit, turned into a completely different idea, never heard from again or moved around until it worked.
If Nexon cancels a game they probably don't think it's worth their time, or their customer's time.

As far as CEOs and what have you being fired, changed, quitting, whatever, this also happens very frequently.
Just because things change within a company does not mean it is dying.
Just because a game or games are canceled does not mean a company is dying.
Just because people are fired left and right does not mean a company is dying.
What it DOES mean however, is that the company is trying to adapt. This adaption might end up killing the company.
But more likely than not, for a large company like Nexon, or any large company for that matter, they'll probably be fine.
Based on evidence we can observe though, Nexon appears to be going through major structure changes and it's too early to tell.
