In the KMS Fox Valley update, professions were revamped.
All professions can now extract equipment, and you can now extract multiple equipment at the same time (Smithing/Accessory … (more)crafting can extract up to 5 items, Alchemists can extract up to 10). In addition, you can also extract pocket items and level 0 items. Further, Smithing and Accessory Crafting professions obtain buff skills; Smithing receives a critical damage bonus, and Accessory Crafting receives a rudimentary Heavens Door-type skill.
In a tradeoff, you are no longer able to fuse equipment and obtain higher-grade potentials, nor does fusing increase profession EXP.
