During the questline the potionlady asks you if you want to keep the book or not and removes it if you click the second option, you could try doing that part again and see if she removes all of them.
It does show an expiration date when you hover over the item in AH, but it'd really help if the clock icon was added onto temporary cash covers in AH though.
I know dyed pets can "revert" when entering CS too. It's usually just a case of memory leak, which has been more frequent lately. Restarting client/computer should solve it.
