Many people have reported being unable to level up their Ladybug, because Aphids (the little green bugs which are the only thing Ladybugs can gain EXP from) are not dropping.
There are two possible causes for that:
1. The player did not accept the "Bigger, Better Bugs" quest.
In order to accept the quest, you must double-click on the book in your Use inventory, after receiving the Ladybug and Book. (The NPC actually tells you to do that, but who even reads NPC dialog?) After looking at the book, the initial quest will complete, and "Bigger, Better Bugs" will become available. Once you accept that, Aphids will start dropping.
2. The player turned in the "Bigger, Better Bugs" quest, but did not transform their Ladybug into an Ant before picking up a non-Aphid bug. The Ladybug loses exp from doing that, which means it can no longer be transformed. And the Aphids stop dropping because the quest has been turned in.
There is no fix for this issue at this time. Nexon has been informed of it.
To avoid this issue, please make sure to use the book in your Use inventory to transform the Ladybug into an Ant, before turning in the "Bigger, Better Bugs" quest.
Am I missing something here...? I am pretty sure I read some where that having more than one account is a direct violation of the terms of service? Maybe I am wrong? Or was that trying to run multiple clients of maplestory on a single computer?
It's not.
The ToS does not restrict the number of accounts you may have.
Running multiple clients on a single computer is not allowed, however.
As for the OP's suggestion: unfortunately it seems too prone to abuse.
As YinYangX pointed out, each HT body part gives exp. This could be abused if entries were counted instead of clears.
You're contradicting yourself. In the previous bullet you basically said "if someone gets killed by HT it's because they're not ready for it yet, and retrying won't help", yet now you want a death count, on the assumption that one would not just keep dying?
I think the accessory drop rate is higher from CHT. The CHT pendant is also considerably better than HT pendant. And there's the EXP, meso (crystal), and buff, too.
My guess is that the requirement for the medal is buried too deep in the spaghetti to safely remove, which is why when they got rid of most of the prequest they just turned it into "talk to the NPC to get the medal."
I agree with Daxterbeer's complaint about the drops being hidden by rock formations. Those would be good candidates for that transparency trick Nexon gratuitously inflicted on our UI windows.
I expect that HT will get revamped soon, similar to what happened to Zakum and Papulatus. I doubt Nexon would bother making any changes to it before that complete overhaul.
My suggestion to you is this:
If you use boss teleport to get to Horntail (or any other boss or content with limited entries), wait two minutes before entering.
GMS has a persistent issue I call "cc-dc" - disconnect is a LOT more likely within the first minute or two after changing channel (including to/from Cash Shop, Auction House, Monster Life, Private Channels, logging in, or switching characters) than at any other time. Boss teleport forces a channel change. So it's best to wait and make sure your connection survives that channel change, before entering anything you'd hate to dc from. (Or, for that matter, using any buffs that might be lost on dc).
I had fun doing absolutely nothing in Maplestory for no reason until there was a story involved.
But there was plenty of story before the black mage
The story of Orbis potentially crashing into Elnath due to pixies removing pieces of the clouds.
The story of Masteria, Versal, and the Crimsonwood Grandmasters.
The Story of how the people of maple world lost their Will
The story of Zakum
The story of the Ludus Lake Clocktower
etc.
I much preferred it that way, to be honest.
It was more like a real world, where different people have different problems you can help them with. Some were small, like an NPC having an item stolen by monsters, and some were big, like a whole town about to come crashing down from the clouds. But they were all self-contained (even if they sent you to other continents).
And then the Black Mage story took over, and every bit of trouble in the world was suddenly due to him or the Black Wings. I found that "All Evil Comes From Satan" premise quite annoying and out-of-place for Maple World.
Unfortunately, that overarching story has been with us for so long, that a return to the "you're just a sword for hire, helping random people with random issues" story style would likely cause many players - who have been training to become the Savior of the World for years - to quit. Nexon had to make up this "But wait! Another world has its own Satan we need to help them with!" new overarching story, to try to keep player attention. We'll have to wait and see whether that works out for them.
its lvl 200required item and the flame stats on the item is worse then the PinkCup refund me the coin or fix the flame stat on the item please
Common sense.
Also, can't "fix" something if it's not "broken".
Gold Richie's Handkerchief never dropped from a boss, either. It still has "boss drop" Bonus Stats.
The system is incredibly inconsistent, so I agree with DFDFD that there should some kind of indication on an item regarding its Bonus Stats rank.
