The lag is caused by the new Chat Channels. Here's how you temporarily fix it until NX releases an update:
Credit to /u/Loxiona of RedditIn command prompt with admin privileges enter:
… (more)netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="MaplestoryFix" protocol=TCP dir=out action=block remoteip=8.31.99.133
and press enter. This should work immediately without having to restart maple or your computer. If it doesn't, make sure your firewall is turned on, that you copied the command correctly, and that you are running in an admin command prompt.
To delete the firewall entry when they get around to fixing the lag (in admin command prompt):
netsh advfirewall firewall delete rule name=MaplestoryFix
and press enter.
If you use a firewall other than the default Windows Firewall, block outgoing TCP traffic to remote IP address 8.31.99.133 (less)
