Known Issues After 2/16 Maintenance... The entire game.

Haha.. thanks Gerdaermah. For some reason, the OP reminded me of watching my dad try to start his lawn mower when I was growing up. And that is what trying to, at least start the game, to play, feels like anymore. A bit of funny nostalgia on my part as well, maybe

And don't get my wrong, I love Maplestory. It is my favourite time waster, it's cute and easy to play..... IF it works.

The fact that is is so fundamentally broken, on many levels, is what grates me to my core. Having observed the decline, over the many years, while being sold 'It's new and improved!' is insulting to those that have been around long enough to watch the decline but, at the same time, just as insulting to new people who are helping to prop up the game and keep it alive but, being told, 'deal with it' or, since they are not privy to the history, being lied to and told they just need a better PC to run this, what could be, a flash based game. When the truth is, you need a monster computer to deal with the garbage coding of the game.

If I can run a fairly heavy 3D game title and stay at/above 30fps.... there is NO, None at all!, excuse a simple, pixel art 2D game should demand nearly 100% cpu usage, max dedicated video card GPU usage and lock a computet to just stand in a room (event hall) doing nothing.

Except bad programming and not caring about the user base (the people keeping the company alive). JMO though.

Starting/playing Maplestory has become the equivalent of trying to start an old used lawnmower

1st pull... its just a waste of time and does nothing
2nd pull... it sputters and coughs a moment yet, nothing happens
3rd pull... it's sputters to to life misfiring a bit, black smoke.. hopes are up and... it's dies
4th pull... it spits and sputters knocks and smokes but, somehow... its runs !!....


.... only to run out of gas and die again once you thought it started for good.

It doesn't matter how good of gas or oil (computer or internet connection) you put in it.. it's engine (core of game) is just a worn out, old pile of crap.

The problem seems that US Nexon cannot really do much to change the core problems of the game (functionality/coding). They seem to just be a bug reporting service and typo editor for the game. Hence, all core functionality of the game goes unfixed until it affects the true Nexon income.

The other problem seems that there is a 'works on my computer' mentality. Just because the game functions properly with the testing bubble of Nexon, does no equate the game working in real world application. So, as people complain the 'X' doesn't work... when a US bug reporter looks at it and it is found within the PC in the Nexon corperation to be 'just fine'... it is not a problem.

The thing is.. just because a game works mostly for a majority (51%)... that doesn't mean there isn't a fundamental problem with the game working correctly.

A simple game (graphics/core... this isn't a hardcore 3D, super resolution texture game with tons of AI) such as this should work for ALL people, easily and shouldn't require a 50+mb internet connection, and 8 core 4ghz+ cpu, 16g+b RAM super gaming setup.

Prior to Big Bang, Maple could run on my (now well retired) Dell 2.6ghz celeron with 2gb RAM and integrated intel graphics. Every since... every update slows the game down and nudges you closer to needing the computer the runs the NSA.

There are several gold farming sites in the censor.

It's fairly easy to bypass the censor (I.E. adding spaces, periods, or other symbols), though, and many players are asking for a less restrictive word censor. The bot sites simply find a way around. I've actually seen the particular site change several times myself.

Maybe a real person, in game moderator, would help be a solution to ridding the game of hackers as opposed to relying on some stupid filter or algorithm
