This is a weird way of handling things imo. How would this be advertised? Is it said in-game? When you enter the map? Do they do this for all AFK-Event maps?
I think a better solution would be to unload characters on chairs (the skill is considered a chair) on maps like these. For future AFK-Maps, just do the same thing here. (Require sitting on a chair to reap rewards)
It would have been quite simple to make the Alliance's Resolve skill work in any map. They intentionally made it only work in Outpost. I assume this is because they want a lot of players gathered in one spot and able to see each other there. Community-building or at least showing people that their world isn't as empty as they might be thinking.
So, I don't think your idea would be accepted.
However, I'm also not sure it's all the people causing the lag. I think it's features of the map itself, like the fog blowing through it. Maybe the game needs a "simplified graphics" toggle, for those whose hardware can't keep up with the game's constantly escalating graphic requirements.(less)
You're right. I mean if previous events had skills that worked in any map, you could just go to your favorite idle spot of choice and just grab your free coins/exp.
It's my opinion that it's the people. The way maplestory handles drawing of characters (and the only way it really could) can be extremely heavy on the computer.
After all, I've experienced similar lag in the previous events which had much more simple maps.
If Nexon really wants to "community-build" and "show their world isn't as empty as they might think", I don't know why we don't have a free server wide chat method yet.
The six person random chat room doesn't count in my book. I'd like to see megaphones (not super) become free. I never see anyone use them anyway.
I've completed every alliance quest with my main, the whole event system works perfectly. Today, for the first time I tried to do the alliance dailies on my mule (so I can rank up efficiently). From the alliance event notifier I got the quest to go to the outpost. It teleported me, and I could talk to every NPC. I tried to pick up my dailies on the mule. First I got the daily description dialog (about the dailies). After that I got the "Expedition mission - Moonbridge" quest available. But when I tried to pick it up, I got the message "The moonbridge scenario must be completed first."
I can pick up Soldier savior, Help from above, I can collect determination, turn them in for coins and even rank up the alliance. But can't pick up the dailies. Also I don't have any available quests regarding the alliance apart from these.
Is this a bug? Or the story can only be progressed by one character and therefore dailies can't be done on multiple characters? Or am I just missing something?
Thanks for any help!
EDIT: I've tried it on 2 different mules, both 201+ and 5th job advanced.
1. Black Mage Gathering Outpost quest
2. Leave outpost
3. Select last option talking about expeditions
4. Log off/on (Going to the character select was enough)
5. Accept new quest
This worked for me.
Edit: So basically, it would seem the game doesn't actually register the fact that you've done that quest in step one until you log out.
I doubt you need to leave the outpost to get it to work. (less)
They're somewhat different actually, in that deep breath has more pixels pulling from one side iirc.
But that still doesn't make it worthwhile to have boost nodes on both of these skills.… (more)
Beast Tamer needs some love. +1 to this idea. (less)
