For reference, the BT estimation was mentioned in http://forums.maplestory.nexon.net/discussion/22892/current-events-with-bt-release#latest.

The whole point about it being non-cubeable is that it's not ideal pots and not meant for someone to keep for end game, not that MS didn't know that att > dmg. >.>

Personally, I use Task Manager and make sure anything / everything Maplestory + Nexon is closed and that usually guarantees no data lag.
