The way I go about pots is just pick one item and reroll with master/meister/red until it tiers up and I have a decent pot on it, then pick the item with the lowest value pots and then repeat.

Shouldn't emblem be first? Since you can technically buy the other two from other people already potentialed, but you can't buy an (at least proper lvl 100) emblem.

Haven't done it yet, but here's my explanation.
You need 100 points to get 1 Retro coin, which was your first mistake. Using the skill gives you 300 points / 3 coins. Any mobs killed will give you extra points, up to 225 points / 2.25 coins per cast (second mistake). Repeatedly use the skill until you max your 200 coins / 20000 points cap.

And no, this is definitely no where close to some of the actual mysteries in Maplestory. >.>
