I don't believe anyone in the original version of this event had to reach 250 to get the best versions of the blocks. They were given by default for completing the quest they were connected to.

No, NX is refunded AS maple points. Maple points aren't refunded.
There's no reason not to just claim your coins right before you turn off the game every day. Or even before reset. Anytime is fine. Putting it off is your fault.
You know what the dumbest part of this idea is? You're already penalized with a reset for dying at any point before 200. There's no need for the quest to have "don't die" in its coding.
or, uh, use some of your 255 upgrades to put hp on all your equipment so you don't die for being a few seconds late? None of what you describe can be called a bug. "Internet latency is a bug! I'm not stupid!"
